If youre not taking advantage of the cheap, fresh- shucked oysters while there, youre doing it wrong.

For cheap seafood go to connies or mambos.. you can feed a family of 4 with like $30 bucks..

    BBs has excellent gumbo.

Hell, we're more into the food than the ambiance. As long as the chairs don't give you crabs---that is, as long as the crabs are on the table and not on the chairs, amiright? amiright?
"And would you like tartar sauce?"
    "No, thank you."
"How about a prescription for Kwell?"
    (long pause) "Say that again?"

In the Humble/Kingwood area, Raffa's on Lake Houston has great crab-cakes and an amazing stuffed flounder. Also has the best scallops I've ever had in my life. Pricey, but great service and a nice view of Lake Houston, etc.

Floyds is solid. Locations all around the city and isn’t upscale but isn’t too casual either.

You should definitely walk into their prep and storage areas for any sign of neglect. Gordon Ramsey will give you ideas what to look for before investing your money.

The Rouxpour is really good. I'd say it's reasonably priced. Not cheap, but you aren't going to spend your retirement on it.

Best Crab Cakes are at Vic & Anthony's. Nice Lobster & Crab options, too.

I really like Pappadeaux's and feel it is underrated.

Brennan's is awesome and more of a culinary experience vs mainstream.

The crab cakes at Oceanaire are great.

Shrimp Etouffee at Treebeards (not an anniversary place lol) is great.

Truluck's has great tuna, stone crab, and oysters.

The claw (the larger right one) is all they harvest. You break it off at the proper joint, throw the crab back, and it regrows.

I’m almost embarrassed to say this because I think of myself as a foodie, but pappadeaux (at least the one close to me....citycentre) is consistently the best seafood I find in Houston. That may be because for all our great restaurants, I don’t think Houston is really a seafood haven. I’m also willing to admit that maybe I’ve just had bad experiences at the other places I’ve been to.......but pappadeaux is really good. The second best octopus I’ve ever had was at Pujol in Mexico City. Supposedly the best restaurant in the whole country. The best I’ve ever had is the Spanish grilled octopus appetizer at pappadeaux.

Yup, Ive mentioned this before. Its sad that Houston as a whole, doesnt really have a seafood scene, being right next to the Gulf.

I've seen people say this before. You obviously have no idea where to get seafood here.
