Interesting... the party and voters that "owning the libs" is suddenly interested in respect and dialogue."

And since this is about trump and 2020... care to show examples of trump's efforts at respect and dialogue?

Interesting... where did I say trump supporters can't support trump? They can, and they can accept the ridicule and scorn, since along with power comes great responsibility.

In 2016 trump supporters celebrated, then suddenly claimed they didn't vote for him. Over the last four years they even blamed Democrats for trump winning. They pointed to Hillary Clinton. And here we are again, 2020, and you are attempting to blame Democrats again... for not supporting some other Democrat. So again, you will vote for trump, then blame others.

    Again, I say own it...

the GOP and conservatives in general have refused to hold any dialogue in good faith going back to 1994. Obama tried over and over again to work with them and was **** on repeatedly.

Human nature is unfortunately imperfect, and there are plenty of examples of said imperfection in the Democratic Party. That being said, politics is as much about degrees as it is binary judgments. In every way measurable, conservatives are more authoritarian, more judgmental and less tolerant than liberals.

So please spare us the feigned indignation.

You stated nothing about respect and dialogue but dictatorship in your initial post. For me, when you said dictatorship, I immediately think lack of constitutional rights. A lack of respect and even a lack of dialogue is NOT uncommon in democratic system of government.

based on their income, not who they marry, you would think. But apparently it’s life goes on now for attacking the institution of certain type of marriage

Trump supporters are ticked because they have to eat so much crap for supporting trump, they feel victimized rather than confront the root cause of the crap they receive...Trump himself. On Clutchfans, a freaking basketball fan site, they get totally clobbered for supporting trump. Sometimes it causes them to shrink or walk away for a while, and I’m sure they resent it. Sometimes they argue on. The circular reasoning and moral compromise in which they engage is as hilarious as it is intellectually dishonest. But that’s where we are.

One of the posters above had the very noble message of attacking the candidate Trump, not his supporters. It is a great message. Clobbering trump supporters in the head with insults only has the effect of further cementing their views (not saying they were flexiblle), which isn’t productive if your goal is to convince people to open their minds incrementally. But it’s asking for a lot (to not attack supporters) because there are some Trump supporters (like the dudes who mocked Floyd’s death with a re-enactment) who deserve ridicule. There are a couple of dudes like Big Texx who deserve it too. But it is a good aspirational goal.

Do you know why countries like Sweden, Norway and Canada fair so well as popular immigration destinations? Because most of their citizens are civil, not small minded entitled jackasses.

    FIFY

non immigrant spouses without SS ARE eligible

"the stimulus bill doesn’t just pass over immigrants who don’t pay taxes. Any immigrant without a social security number — even if they have a tax ID and pay U.S. taxes — can render their entire family ineligible to receive any money."

Sure, but where was this when people were calling people "libtards" in this forum during the Obama years?

Its hard to appreciate much about conservatives these days. But they do welcome back their strays. If anything the liberals could learn from conservatives is this.

If you ask me how do I feel about Trump voters - my answer would be that I see them as either misinformed or stuck voting for their team in a tribal sort of manner. I don't detest them, I have people in my circle whom I respect who vote for him, and I don't think all of them are racist.

But I also think their views have been warped and I hear them repeat a lot of half-truths. There was a time when I'd debate with them, either me engaging or they engaging.

But I don't anymore as I realize no one is going to change their mind.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't take issue with conservatism. I defended a lot of positions of Bush and could see the rationality of it. But Trump is a different animal. My issues with folks has never been a binder full of women, or an awkward flyover a devastated city. It's been policies that are pushed that I feel hurt America. I've never been a fan of Chuck Schumer and voted against him in protest. But man, the things Trump does and the way he runs this country is an absolute disgrace to us all.

He's damaged this nation deeply. We were a country with problems, and now we are a completely broken nation. We went from having issues to having major problems. We've taken so many steps backwards in so many areas - it's just very sad to see all of this.
