The republican voter suppression strategy also in play in Iowa... Message from GOP lawmakers to Iowans: We don't want you voting https://www.desmoinesregister.com/s...king-harder-iowans-vote-editorial/3173108001/
Lincoln Project turns its attention to the senate race in Iowa, where the incumbent retrumplican is now in a tight battle...
Yes when you literally can shut down polls in Democratic voter counties, have broken machines placed, and make Democratic voters wait in lines for 3 to 6 hours..... You can win elections.... CONGRATULATIONS GOP!! Such a noble way to earn your position of power. Trump has the benefit of being the incumbent with complete control of his party which has no enforcement mechanism to keep them from using these tactics to subvert Democracy to scam elections. This is the kind of crap that third world countries do to keep strongmen in office. Must make some of you proud to be on par with sh$thole 3rd world dictatorships. The way that Biden loses, is if there are swing districts that look like traditional GOP voters (IE suburbs of Houston), but are actually potential Biden voters right now in these large margin polls where the Biden voters stay at home or at the last minute are convinced that Trump is the "lesser of two evils" etc. and come home to vote Republican. Right now the polling suggests many of those districts are likely to swing to Biden if the election was tomorrow. If you combine the issue of the GOP rigging blue districts to suppress the vote like they are openly doing in Georgia, and did during the primary here in Texas as well, with the issue of a potential swing vote of traditional GOP voter vote that swings back to Trump at the last minute, you could definitely have another Trump victory. It's kind of amazing that Democrats ever win elections in the modern era given the challenges they face with the blatant suppression of Democracy by the GOP. But make no mistake about it... if Biden has a 10 point lead like he does now going into election day, he wins in pretty sweeping fashion. With only a 2 to 4 point lead like Hillary had, it's pretty much a toss up. A lead of that size indicates the swing voters that traditionally look like GOP voters likely voting blue.
Did Trump win that way the first time? That op/ed rings a heavy warning bell of where the important voters are and whether or not they'd actually show up.
He won by a combination of perfect storm factors. He's going to need a repeat of perfect storm factors as well this time, but the issue we saw blatantly in Georgia has had issues going back years. See Stacy Abrams' election. Hell, go back and look at Florida and Broward and the long history there which likely gave George W. the presidency. The most blatant Trump 2016 related issue was likely in the Detroit area where African Americans were targeted for suppression with precision that led to that state turning red by having low turnout in the Detroit area to run up the Democratic vote which typically is what gets that state Blue. Is that the ONLY reason... of course not. Hillary was a weak candidate on trade, and that really hurt her in those rust belt blue collar areas. Especially Wisconsin. Most of those older voters really held blame to the Clinton admin years where the country put in NAFTA which did have a negative affect on white blue collar workers in that region. Those voters went for Trump because of his lies on being "tough on China" etc. and blatantly stealing Bernie's campaign language on trade which we now know is garbage. For Trump to win again, he needs to re-convince those voters that he's still stronger on trade than Biden. Biden has historically been very strong in this area with his Scranton connection on the campaign trail. We'll see how Biden does here, and how smart those voters are when they hear lies from Trump commercials claiming that he saved their jobs when really he has done next to nothing other than add taxes to the American people with tariffs. In addition Trump does need to suppress the vote again and keep Democrats from voting in areas like Detroit, and if Georgia and Texas are turning more purple, you better damn well believe you'll see more and more "broken machines" and shutting down of hundreds of polling places in Democratic communities by Trump allies like Brian Kemp and our very own Greg Abbott.
Why are all the democratic women about 15 years older? And why are they comparing TV personalities to politicians? AOC blows them all out of the water.
no, I get the "Scranton connection" -- I mean what does that have to do with Biden being strong on trade? serious question
He speaks well to blue collar workers in steel mills, and has done well with unions too. His trade policies he's been involved with in the past are more Clinton than Bernie, but he campaigns better to those same voters that care less about actual trade policy, but want to hear that they'll have someone that is on their side. It's up to individual opinion to accept or deny whether he actually is strong here in a way that'll impact 2020, but IN THE PAST, he has a reputation of being strong in campaigning to these very same rust belt states that Trump won with a populist trade message. There's a reason why Obama picked him in 2008.
I see you had nothing to refute that assertion. Krystal Ball is another that put those manufactured people to shame.
