OK...haven't had a Whataburger taquito in months. Apparently I'm also supposed to get a "breakfast on a bun" or whatever the hell she wants. We'll see.

I'd hold out for real TexMex breakfast but I'm half-assed-starving and will not make it until 7.

    Completely agreed.

Although, at my Whataburger, it's $3.99, so it might be expensive. Needed 2 to fill me up, so if you don't mind spending $8-9 on breakfast, have at it.

Yep, that's the thing. I traded half my taquito for half of that...pretty, pretty good stuff.

    Whataburger is overrated AF.

Welcome to overratedburger. May I take your order?

Whataburger trades iconic A-frame design for new look

Turcotte says the renovated store on Zarzamora de-emphasizes Whataburger’s familiar A-frame, adds more glass around the front of the building, updates the décor, and serves up a refashioned kitchen. The interior exudes a modern yet slightly retro feel, highlighted by orange and gray seating, and warm wood finishes.

What’s been the reaction to the updated design?

“As in all things, some people seem to love it and some had some maybe less-favorable comments. But you know, that’s just the internet, I guess,” Turcotte says.

At the moment, two other San Antonio locations are undergoing makeovers, he says. Over the next eight to 10 years, all of Whataburger’s existing restaurants will get the new treatment. The chain comprises more than 700 company-owned stores and nearly 130 franchised stores in 10 states.

Turcotte says the Zarzamora location received what he calls a “super remodel.” That store was gutted and rebuilt, and some of the other locations will be as well. The rest of the existing restaurants will get less of a face-lift: either an upgraded exterior, kitchen, and dining room, or an upgraded exterior and kitchen.

Turcotte says Whataburger plans to expand into the Kansas City and Tennessee markets while bulking up its presence across the South. As part of the expansion, Whataburger is franchising restaurants for the first time in almost 20 years.

In June 2019, Chicago-based investment firm BDT Capital Partners purchased a majority stake in Whataburger.

KC Donuts on Brodie in SW Austin (down the sidewalk from Evangeline's) is better, especially if you hit them in the morning, of course. Killer donuts. Damn, now I want a bag of warm donut holes. :-(

Hell, I just realized that this thread is from a year ago.

Since I'm here, I'll add that WB's malts suck. They use liquid malt. Boo!

The "everything we make on a bun" burger. lol.

That thing looks like a 1980's Burger King or something.

Now it looks like every other burger joint, in my opinion. I think the franchise has been living off it's reputation, well earned back in the day during decades of making burgers and fires in Texas. I haven't been to one I liked in several years. Back when I sometimes ate at a Whataburger, I would have better luck when passing through small towns in East Texas or in the Hill Country. They seemed to do a better job.

Of course, that was if I couldn't find an open BBQ joint.
