those Sherman and McCourty replies to Drew Brees’ nonsense were so on point

black people went and fought for this country right alongside your grandfather...put their lives on the line...then they’d return home and be called n*****r and looked down upon in a country where everybody is supposed to be treated equally

Well the big issue in all of this is if he can still play?
He might suck and Cam Newton is a much better quarterback option

This man has the most reasonable take on this.

"Drew Brees probably has a good heart but that doesn't mean he can't be ignorant". I think that sums up Brees pretty well.

It's too late to make him a player.

Make him the commissioner. Watch all the wannabe slave owners piss their pants after paying him settlement money.

Believe Drew who he has shown to be (or what he supports) or that he's dumb, uneducated, ignorant?

Drew better not run into Stephen Jackson or he's going to get torn up -- SJ was heated on those tone deaf comments.

The walk back from Brees was weak AF.

I don't have a problem with what Brees said. Every man is entitled to their opinion, no matter how uneducated and dumb it may be. I work with a lot of those types, which is crazy.

People feign such outrage when someone kneels for the anthem (in silent, legal protest) that they see red and refuse to educate themselves on what the protest is for.

I work in a fairly educated field. There's six of us that work closely together. Three guys, three girls. We're all white, including me. I can almost guarantee you that only two of us (the two young, free thinking guys in the group) have even heard of red lining, let alone know what is was. That's a big part of the problem...

Then, you can start talking about other issues like selective interest rates, and everything else.

The fact of the matter is, AS SOON AS Columbus discovered this part of the world, the white man began to rape, pillage, and suppress those that were not the same. While it hasn't necessarily gotten worse from there (because that was terrible), it has only gotten marginally better.

Gone is the torture, the slavery, the raping, and the killing. Still in, is the modern day, less barbaric forms of that. It's often said that "winners write history." This is so true when it comes to this subject. We let kids know about the main parts in school, but we whitewash it all.

Anyways, Brees can say what he wants. He's got that right. He's kind of low key proven he's not the stand up guy white America paints him to be. That's here nor there. It'll settle itself in the locker room.

My main problem is this, and I've seen it pretty much everywhere: when LeBron says something, or a black NFL player kneels, Laura Ingraham and all the other basic white people tell them to shut up and dribble. When Drew Brees states his opinion, they back him, and say that he's a person and is entitled to his opinion. That's a huge problem.

Let's quit politicizing everything. Everything is politicized. I'm guilty of it too. Let's realize people are people no matter what they look like, and the same black and white grandfathers that fought for our flag to fly also fought for our right to protest. We all have the same basic human needs. We may look a little different, but we all have the same basic needs. Let's embrace that with love and not hate and at the same time, let's celebrate our individualism. It's what makes the world a special place.

I wish, instead of burning down stores, smashing windows and looting these mom and pop shops that were once someone's dream, I wish we could burn down social media servers and loot them. They are the problem with the world today, in large part. It's a weird thing to end this post with, but I truly believe social media is going to set humanity back to the stone age at some point.

Drew Brees was out here kneeling with his teammates to protest police brutality, but deep down, he was thinking it was all a bunch of bullsh*t.

these people know good and got damn well what Kaepernick was doing, but they didn’t care or want to talk about it, so they made it about disrespecting the flag and the military...always the same talking point...“I, or my *insert X, Y, or Z* fought in the military, and this is a mockery blah blah blah”

people care more about a symbol than about what that symbol is supposed to represent

black people fought in the Civil War, and after slavery was finally abolished, they still had to deal with Jim Crow, lynchings, segregation, redlining, etc and overall rampant racism...flag was still there flying through all of it

we had black grandfathers going overseas to give their life for rights they themselves didn’t even get to enjoy...stfu Brees

Brees the most sacked QB of the upcoming NFL season?

...he'd have to last the entire season first...;)

...but anyway...I agree that Drew Brees can say whatever he wants. He can believe whatever he wants.
...might help all of us out, though, if he kinda stuck to one story for a bit longer than the next one that comes behind it...:D

Brees was raised to always stand during the national anthem by his parents to show respect so he feels it's disrespectful not to stand. At the same time he's come out with strong comments against racism and police brutality. Now everyone is blasting him like he's a member of the KKK and said he hates black people.

The social media lynch mob is strong.

I think his statements show he is incapable of placing his feet in someone else's shoes. He assumes every ww2 vet was praised honorably. He doesn't understand that an entire community of people might not see America in such a blindly patronizing way.

When his white grandfather came back from ww2 and was praised, black ww2 veterans came home to a society calling them "niggers" and were forcefully segregated in to poorer worse institutions and communties while being lynched and harassed by law enforcement.

He should understand that not everyone has the privilege to have such an idealistic view of the flag.

His statement shows he is tone deaf and doesn't understand that concept.
