Another great Bogart movie, this time with Lauren Bacall, is Key Largo.

Uncut Gems - 7/10. Just a bit annoying with the self destruction

Hunter Killer - 7/10. Driven by the fact that I'm a sucker for submarine movies

To Kill A Mockingbird - 10/10. Just wow. Yes it is very old but just a great movie..

A Most Wanted Man - 6/10. I will watch just about anything with Philip Seymour Hoffman but this was not that great vs other spy movies like Tinker Tailor, etc.

Aladdin (2019) - 7/10. With the kids. Was not as annoying as I expected it to be. Would not watch if I didn't have kids

Why do the Sefdi bros insist on blaring overtoned synthesised music in their movies? It really takes away from the overall experience imo. Its like theyre trying to create an 80s scifi theme or something. Julia Foxs badonkadonk is enough to give it an extra point but Adam Sandler and his annoying voice knocks that point back down.

Tales From The Hood: 5/10. Watched it on Starz 2 nights ago. I was not aware spike lee was the executive producer. Usually I hate spoofs and thought it would be a lame attempt to spoof the legendary hbo series, Tales From The Crypt,

The Social Commentary throughout the independent stories in this film are on point. Quite frankly it resonates more than any other film Spike Lee has been involved in, including Do The Right Thing. However, it failed in the "production'. The effects, costumes and design.. it all felt terribly assembled. The zombie looked like an extra from thriller and the dolls looked like dead 'Little Penny'.
With more effort, this could have been a classic don't judge a movie by its title type of film.
I did enjoy how all the stories merged together.

Man I felt great anxiety the whole way through. I think that’s what they wanted us to feel. Mission accomplished.

    Sandler was great

This movie was overhyped imo (looking at you Bill Simmons/Ringer) -- I was really excited to see it thinking it was going to be a really interesting possibly classic sports/ gambling movie and a mega comeback for Sandler. I get what they wanted from Sandler's character but turning the cringe up to 11 for the entire movie was just so endlessly grating. I'll be vague but the ending was so very meh and a real letdown. It's totally watchable but don't believe the hype.

4 tales in the anthology, the 1st one deals with a rookie cop going insane after witnessing 3 crooked cops murder a black activist and pass it off as a drug overdose.
the second one: A politician and self proclaimed 'original American named Duke , who was a former kkk member, is running for governor but finds himself hunted down by the souls of the previous residents. His campaign ad would be very TREMENDOUS this day in age.

The Third one: you know how when a minority is killed by an anglo some will say, "look at Chicago. Black people kill each other all the time. Where are you on that? huh?" Well this one DIGS deep on that subject. A white supremacist takes a liking to a black gang member because of all the black people the gangster has killed.

Pretty deep movie in content with some humor mixed in.

Watched Badboys on Netflix because of the back and forth in this thread about it. Just as entertaining as I remember it. The question is can Tea Leoni play in today's league?
Part 2 had its good moments but it felt longgggg oh that's right it ran 2 freaking hours and 30 minutes.

kinda felt the same way- it got a lot of love from sports media in particular, but I felt like they didn't do enough for me to truly root for Sandler's character. I think a lot of people were so caught up in seeing Adam Sandler playing a serious role that they gave his character a pass

I don't see how that resonates more than Do the Right thing especially after what has happened this week but to each his own.

    1917 - 10/10

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

there was this small pet peeve of mine where the bad guys all just happen to have sh*tty aim, but that’s very minor, and it happens in every movie...I highly recommend this film

Cromwell. Richard Harris's eye makeup was a bit too much, but I had never watched this and was glad I did. 8/10.
A Man for All Seasons. Hadn't watched it for a while, holds up very well. 9/10
Run Silent, Run Deep. Another I hadn't seen in a long time, still holds up. 8/10
Lincoln Lawyer. Had never seen it, pretty entertaining. Good twist at the end. 8/10
Sweet Smell of Success. Very good, had never seen it. Think this will put me on a noir kick. 9/10
Maltese Falcon. on Buck's reminder. Always good. So Lebowski before there was Lebowski 9.75/10

    The Social Network 8/10

Can't believe I barely saw this movie. ;)

Great movie though. They definitely portrayed Zuckerberg as the villain and Eduardo as the innocent partner who was blind sided by everything. I know Zuckerberg wasn't squeaky clean but I'd love to know what ACTUALLY went down along the way.

Also it's mind boggling to see how much Zuckerberg and the start up partners are worth now.
