Rockets still need a versatile BIG

Rockets are rolling with smallball but still require a big that put pressure on the longer teams like Clips, Bucks, Heat, 76ers and Raptors.

Need a 6'9 Big that can run, jump, pass, shoot 3ball, drive to rim, play above rim (offense & defense).

Green is the closest that Rockets have for this role but he is much better with vs. bench players.

Where Green is limited is on defense. Cannot expect an older player to defend the energy and length of studs like Giannis, Kawhi, Siakam, Embiid, Bam, Zion, Joker, AD, etc.

Perhaps Bruno can grow into this type of player. Right now he is not even in rotation however.

To hedge our bets, Rockets should sign 6'9 7''3 wingspan Jonah Bolden who is foul prone due to aggressive defense but his defensive intensity and offensive versatility (passing, 3ball, drive to rim, ball handling) would be extremely valuable off the bench.

And would still advocate to trading for Aaron Gordon or Jonathan Isaac in offseason.

BIG was overrated. I'd give it a solid 8/10. It didn't represent what was happening in the hood. But that did help launch Tom Hanks into better movies.

yeppers, he’s here and he’s motivated.

But, who will be here when they’re laced up for the ‘20-‘21 Rox? (Or might that be ‘21-‘21 Rox???)

idk, i guess there gonna be more players back from Europe or leagues to seek jobs, even though harty still here by that time, would have to face more fierce competition for countable spots.
Say players like Anthony Randolph might be quite competitive n easy to replace other less experienced players.

Anthony Randolph has been the Rocket’s secret X factor get for the better part of a decade now. He fit then and still fits today. Anthony Randolph would be a fantastic addition.

You can’t talk about our matchup with Kawhi , Zion , AD , and giannis and the solution be ..... Jonah bolden . Who da fook is dat guy ?

we are gonna play small and hope we are quick enough , create enough havoc on D , and hit enough 3’s .

our “bigs” are PJ , roco, and green / Carroll / thabo lol . We have tyson and Hartenstein if ***** getting worked too badly so at least we can put a bigger body on people .

but the key is gonna be playing fast .

if we are saying develop this guy over Hartenstein , idk I’ll have to watch some film , but I like being able to throw a changeup and if Hartenstein could develop into a playoff quality backup I would take that , I like being able to throw different styles at other teams . But even if hartenstein plays he might just be shooting 3’s lol .

If Rob Covington ain't already it then there's no way plan B would fit in the cap space. Give this team time to gel and a way to pay Covington and J. Green and you'll see things start to sparkle.

Bruno is in this equation. I don’t think he is the “X” factor but definitely a verbal.

That guy is incredibly unique. I think Bruno could polish up well too. The Rockets can't afford anything without breaking up the cornerstones, if any, they already have. In fact these pieces are the best you could ever hope for given the circumstances.

Active bigs that play defense is the solution. We need movement for rotations with active hands. Role players, role players, role players. We don’t need an hero because we already have 2. We need to match said player to one of our superstars. Then get a different player’s skill set to match the other All star. (We have Hartinstien and he matches well with Harden.) then platoon the pairings within the rotations. Different looks making other teams match up then we change our line-up yet again. G leaguers and coaching?

We have this guy and Bruno. Dantoni just hates defense too much

We should pick up Ibaka in the offseason. Perfect small ball center that can actually defend and shoot.

Bolden is not starting 5 solution, he is depth that can play in Rockets offensive AND defensive scheme.

Present depth cannot play in current scheme:

    Clemons
    Tyson
    Hartenstein

Above guys too limited on offense and/or defense. Would love Harty to be a rotational piece but he is lost on switches and has not had a 3ball attempt as a Rocket.

Ibaka would be an outstanding pick up for the “Houston Thunder” lol. I don’t think we can afford him.

bolden isn’t gonna get minutes over Bruno , Carroll , green , or thabo this year tho . At least those guys all have first crack . He’s a guy for next year
