What is a racial slur for whites? Or what are equivalent terms for other races?

Come on now, it was obviously used as a racial insult.

I get how some people use it in a self-deprecating, ironic sort of way, but the way it was used here was out of hate, meant to insult and hurt.

It’s not racial at all. Is it derogatory? You bet it is. I also bet more white people call other white people rednecks than any other race.

Sounds like another derogatory word said almost exclusively by the group it's about. You have no point do you?

If it was just derogatory it would be derogatory for everyone. But it's not.

As far as your bet, duh. So? There are lots of words that mean different things to different people based on who and how they're said to them.

In this case, it was hateful and meant to hurt and insult.

First, that’s an asinine position to take.
Second, how do you know this conversation didn’t take place?

Arbery - Keep pointing that gun at me and I’m going to take it
McMichael - Go ahead and try

It really shouldn't matter what someone does. You still shouldn't hate them.

But in this case, it sounded to me that you were referring to certain people discussing this topic as well. If I'm wrong, then I apologize for that.

Still, the point about the word itself in the way you used it stands. It's wrong. Like it or not.

Just call them murderers. Not much worst than that and you'd be accurate and factual.

I have a very basic question.

Do we have any indication that the race of Mr. Arbery played any role in the actions of father and son?

Is there a chance that they would have acted the same way had it been a white person they thought was trespassing?

    They might have missed that?

I mean, I was also operating on the assumption that race played a role in their motivation, but I am wondering, is there any documented history of racism for either of them? Could it be that they were just overzealous vigilantes, regardless of the race of the person they pursued?

One thing that will be important during the trial is that the father McMichael was involved in one of Arbery's cases.

That played a factor. As in, he could have had it in for him.

Had he seen a white person he was also involved in prosecuting? Who knows how he would have reacted.

Also, who knows what kind of jury you get here. I think it would be best to keep race out of this since the facts and laws are on the side of the prosecution.

@dachuda86, either you relish being dishonest, or you simply don't understand the system of government possessed by the United States and the role of one of the 3 branches of that government, the Judicial Branch. There are currently 870 Article III judges who are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate. Article III judges are appointed for life. Article III judges can be removed from office only through impeachment by the House of Representatives and conviction by the Senate.

Your "blunt instrument" has allowed trump to appoint 193 Article III judges, who were rubber stamped by Majority Leader McConnell and the Republican majority in the Senate. Many on a strict party line vote, which is unusual in itself, but one of those confirmed judges made history. For the first time ever, a sitting vice-president, Vice-President Pence, cast the deciding vote confirming an Article III judge.

The overwhelming majority of those judges are the opposite of "liberal," which is how you described yourself. Why you are laughing at all is a mystery, unless you are dishonest when describing yourself as "liberal" or you are simply playing at being a troll here. Perhaps you are both. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised by that at all.
