They're more likely to have a loss averse trait in abstract percentages. A 10% hit on their total wealth is much more noticeable to them than a 10% hit on a normal household, despite the fact that all it means is a smaller yacht and a normal family could be seriously impacted by that hit. We praise and enable that trait as a national "work hard" "bootstrap" culture, so it's logically inconsistent to blame them when they turn into sociopaths right after we previously lavished them with praise, respect, and access during their ascent to super wealthiness. Our priorities are ****ed up and they're mostly the symptom of it, not the root cause...even if they're making it worse by keeping theirs with illegal or unethical means.
this could explain it... https://www.ipsos.com/en/high-incom...siness-reopen-even-if-covid-19-isnt-contained

It sucks, but I don't think I blame Abbott for reopening (has distinct lack of testing to go along with his messaging in regards to restricting punishments, that he initially put in place, as well as his partisanship and his idiot Lt Gov, however...). Without more assistance from the federal government, people have to go to work to make money and we were basically at the end of the period of time that people could afford to stay home. Without a UBI program, without rent/mortgage pauses, without basic rights provided to workers, there really isn't any other choice but to send everyone back to work and hope for the best. Mitch and his party don't seem to care about the common man which means this is just the way it is. It's too bad that a lot of the "common" men/women in this country continue to think that the GOP has their best interests in mind just because they don't want to pay a little more taxes.
The only reason Texas is not in the top 3 states for Covid-19 cases is because we are not testing people on a scale commensurate with the need.
Cruise bookings jump 600% after Carnival announces plans to resume sailings https://www.wesh.com/article/cruise-bookings-up/32450902 It amazes me that people would even consider taking cruises anytime soon.
Sensible people aren’t taking cruises anytime soon. However, you still have a bunch of idiots that think: A) The pandemic was a hoax created by the Democrats to undermine Trump B) Coronavirus is not worse than the flu C) The virus only affects the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions D) It’s my life, and nobody can stop me from doing what I want to do, even if it hurts those around me If America had competent leaders that allowed public health experts to be front and center during this pandemic and have their recommendations guide policy until the country climbs out of it, things would be much better. However, Trump and most Republican governors have encouraged the crazy attitudes I referenced above and thrown any local officials who disagreed with their policy recommendations under the bus.
That might be the last place to gorge on AYCE buffet style germ orgies. Boomers were complaining how AIDS ruined free sex and needle sharing... our generations gets this. What a time to be alive.
I don't think Boomers where ever complaining about needle sharing or the lack there of. Maybe i'm wrong.
There was a danger of getting Hepatitis before aids by sharing needles. Anyway I am not gonna derail this thread just thought that was a strange thing to say, no biggie.
It should be painfully and sadly obvious. Reporting. There is a significant problem with reporting cause of death when there is no confirmed Covid-19 testing to identify the reason they were sick in the first place.
Meh, I wouldn't be too impressed by this. If there are one or 2 fools whoa are actually booking cruises without cruises being offered (as apparently there were) and then cruises are offered, and there's now 5-10 fools booking cruises, that's a 600% increase, but, it's the same fools.
Can you provide a link where the Texas death toll is being questioned? I am curious about this phenomenon.
Also, in an attempt to get people to buy into cruises, they might have some ridiculously great deals. Like "$50 per person for a week" or something. There's plenty of allure, even though it goes against logic to be in an enclosed space with a ton of people.
