You should go read the letter and report. I encourage you to get the facts straight before you omit them.

father & son saw arbery, called 9/11, 9/11 asked them if they witnessed arbery committing a crime, they didn't answer the dispatcher

so decided to do a citizen's arrest even if they didn't witness arbery committing a crime, get their loaded guns, go on a pickup truck,
block arbery's path with guns locked and loaded

If the McMichaels had good reason to believe Arbery was armed that is more reason for them TO NOT PURSUE AND TRY TO DETAIN HIM. There is nothing wrong with calling the police and giving them as much information as you can.

I know some people don't like this but I don't think there is any better way of putting it. If you as a civilian believe someone is armed and dangerous and you go out to try to apprehend them you are looking for trouble.

I also find it mind boggling that there is still suspicion of Arbery based on where he was jogging. I frequently jog miles from my house. That is the point of jogging. I'm trying to go farther to build up my cardio.

Larry English, the man who owns the house under construction, told The Washington Post that the structure was not robbed.

“That’s completely wrong. I’ve never had a police report or anything stolen from my property, or any kind of robbery,” he said.

still waiting to hear how their attempted citizen’s arrest is legal...they did not witness any crime inside the house, and the the dispatcher was also told that Arbery is not breaking into the home

Ya that's pretty much the nail on the coffin. Their entire premise for a legitimate citizens arrest according to Georgia statute was stealing property from that construction site.

I posted the report, so I know very well what it said since I highlighted what the Sheriff said.

My facts are straight you are the one lying.

the McMichaels clearly kept their stock of pool cleaners and bleach in there
and Arbery was robbing their covid 19 cure

    None of this is relevant.

The law is what the law is, and the McMichaels broke the law.

The attorney for the homeowners, Elizabeth Graddy, says the homeowners did not have any relationship with the McMichaels, who are facing charges related to Arbery's death.

    Graddy released this statement:

"First, and most important, the English family -- the homeowners -- want Ahmaud Arbery's parents to know that they are very sorry for the loss of their son and they are praying for them.

Second, it is crucial to understand that the English family -- the homeowners -- were not part of what the McMichaels did. The first accounts suggested a link between the McMichaels and the homeowners, but there is none. The English family had no relationship with the McMichaels and did not even know what had occurred until after Mr. Arbery's death was reported to them.

After seeing Mr. Arbery's photo in news reports, Larry English did not even think Mr. Arbery was the person that appears in this video. Even if it had been, however, Mr. English would never have sought a vigilante response, much less one resulting in a tragic death."

On Saturday Arbery's family attorneys said they've seen surveillance video of the construction site and that no illegal activity took place. They say the person, believed to be Arbery, was on the property for under three minutes.

    The attorneys released this statement:

"Our office has reviewed the surveillance video which appears to show a person, believed to be Ahmaud Arbery, entering a property under construction. The individual remains on the property for under 3 minutes before continuing to jog down the road. This video is consistent with the evidence already known to us. Ahmaud Arbery was out for a jog. He stopped by a property under construction where he engaged in no illegal activity and remained for only a brief period. Ahmaud did not take anything from the construction site. He did not cause any damage to the property. He remained for a brief period of time and was not instructed by anyone to leave but rather left on his own accord to continue his jog. Ahmaud’s actions at this empty home under construction were in no way a felony under Georgia law. This video confirms that Mr. Arbery’s murder was not justified and the actions of the men who pursued him and ambushed him were unjustified.

Yes it is illegal to confront someone with a gun for purposes they did. Just because you feel it shouldn't be, the law is the law. The McMachels broke the law in doing what they did, and they will have to pay for that. That is how our justice system works.

You can't go and stop people using a gun unless it is for a very very narrow range of things. This did not fit into that range. If you don't like the law, you should write a letter to legislators asking to change the law.

The McMichaels' defense has been that they were making a citizen's arrest after suspecting Ahmaud of breaking into and robbing homes in their neighborhood. They said Travis, 34, then exercised his stand your ground right by shooting Ahmaud, claiming the unarmed 25-year-old reached for his gun.

But the new video obtained by News4Jaxappears to undermine their shaky burglary suspect claim. It shows Ahmaud walking into an under-construction house in Brunswick, looking around and then leaving without taking anything.

In the two months before Ahmaud's killing, there were no reports of suspected burglaries in the area, and the owner of the under-construction property has spoken out to say they have no links to the McMichaels whatsoever.

Again we're not talking about what is practical regarding self-defense. The legal argument is whether McMichaels was justified in shooting Arbery. Frankly saying what is normal or practical has nothing to do with Stand Your Ground. In the case of GA the stand your ground law is the absence of a requirement to retreat if that is a reasonable course of action. You might not agree with Arbery fighting someone with a gun but there is no legal reason for him not to as long as he felt that he was threatened with imminent harm.

This is why as someone who teaches self-defense I do not like Stand Your Ground laws. I feel they muddy what is self-defense but that isn't the issue here.

They may get off but the history shouldn't matter. Whether the thought the guy was robbing his neighborhood GA law says that it's not up to him to take the law into his own hands unless he actually wtinesses the crime. They had no legal reason to confront Arbery and that they were pissed about a robbery and had a history with Arbery is even more reason they shouldn't have. People don't often act rationally when pissed especially in regard to someone you've had a bad history with.

If you’re so irresponsible that you leave a gun in an unlocked vehicle, you shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun. This Travis guy doesn’t sound like a good ole boy, more like an idiot thug.

If they thought he was armed and dangerous why didn’t they tell that to the cops when they called? If it was indeed a dangerous individual why confront him? Also if they knew who the person was why didn’t they tell the cops and let them do their job? Those men wanted a confrontation most likely.
