Everyone seems to be taking this too well for it to be real news Or maybe the internet just hasn't gotten a hold of it yet. Here's my, obviously very needed, take . I think the police officer being there in uniform probably helped give some legitimacy to the mob and maybe helped ease tension. If a mob was at my door, if there was a police officer there I'd feel like its less likely I am murdered in cold blood. However, it appears from reading the story that the officer was trying to force his way inside ... so not cool. All in All seems like a cop on a power trip ( at least people only got scared ) , and his buddies on the force dont wanna go through the trouble of disciplining him and/or reprimanding the "mob" . Im not too sure what happened in the actual discussion / event. Maybe things escalated to yelling . How many people in the mob were loud/ aggressive? Yes it says some were armed but how many and how were they acting ? My biggest takeaway is that this is a great example of why NOT to own a gun/ if you own one dont automatically bring it to each encounter. All it would have done if either of the people in the house were armed would be to escalate the situation... and we know how cops are trained to handle that. Yes these people got scared and had their privacy infringed upon. Maybe im jaded , but it could be much worse. Im sure they legit felt threatened and should be compensated and the individuals who partook should get some punishment ... especially the officer , but i bet in his mind he goes back to my #1 point which is that him being there in uniform served as good thing for the mob/ search party / gritty group . Still , no reason to force his way into the house. Ive dealt with a power tripping police officer before, it sucks , it can be scary , but IMO at the end of the day the best you can hope for is he realizes he ****ed up . At least no one got hurt.
If one has it happen to them, that's too many. It's time for the racists to go back to being too ashamed to be so fuc@ing loud again.
