Miami Subs next to Target? I have really positive memories of that place. I remember my high school Spanish teacher blowing me in the parking lot on a Saturday night while my friends were waiting for me inside the restaurant. Was an awesome experience for a 16-17 year old kid. Times were different then.
You will be an “old dude” quicker than you realize. I was always the “young dude” and then all of a sudden you are pushing 40 and you have “young dudes” calling you and your friends “old dudes”.
Went to the one on 45 often during high school. I graduated in 93 from McCullough so the Westheimer scene didn't happen often for us. More time was spend at the clubs on Richmond once we were 18. Spent a lot of time at Planet Shock shows at the Urban Art Bar.
By the mid to late 80s it was either a pale shade of what it had been, or everyone had been lying to us. It was ok, but kinda drove around wondering "Where did everyone say it was so great?" "Are we there yet?"
We were those HS kids from the 'burbs that were too scared to get out of the car. There certainly was a lot to see, though. Whole new world for a bunch of naive 16-year olds.
Katy High 1987. It was a long way down to Westheimer but it was always worth the trip. If you knew where to look you could get anything you wanted.
