Yeah, Kelly Ann Conway's remark about the media needing facemasks and respect sums of what facemasks represent to her audience.

Such strong chains of bondage can never be forgiven nor forgotten!

Hmmmm...bold...not sure they're thinking that through considering that those that forego facemasks run a greater risk of getting the disease, which means they have a higher chance of death from it. "Fight for your (or someone you love's) right, to die quicker" I guess.

I can basically write it for Limbaugh...

“These EXPERTS, the same people that claimed millions would die from what is nothing but a flu, NOW are saying we all have to cover our faces in shame and wear masks.

The level of tyranny by the egg head scientists is amazing. Tell me how is this different than blacks having to sit at the back of a bus? How is this not worse than the Orientals building railroads? They at least got paid. How is this any better than the black slaves wearing shackles? They were property, we are talking about making hard working citizens wear masks!

These same liberal do gooders rail on how Israel treats the Muslims but not a peep on these masks..... You know why? I’ll tell you why.... where else is it required that everyone wear masks? Think hard... that’s right, Sharia Law. Some of you laughed when I said the radical democrats wanted Sharia Law. You aren’t laughing now. Get used to AOC and the Leninists to control your life.”

Well that's another part of it. The big money donors to the Right who fund these guys are REALLY big on the herd immunity ASAP theory of solving this crisis. They are all pretty honest about that. That's why they got on Mitch McConnell super fast to ensure that they created extra loopholes in the legislation to ensure that workers could not sue their employers for forcing them back to work early regarding Covid.

So yeah.... not wearing a mask and forcing herd immunity asap is pretty much the purpose of creating an identity political hot topic issue in this case to pursue an outcome (economy back pumping with herd immunity burn out). They want this to burn through the population as fast as possible, and they honestly believe that the old, sick, the poor, and communities of color are a drain to society so "oh well".

This billionaire class lives in an Atlas Shrugged bubble. They all believe in that philosophy so I 100% believe that they think herd immunity that kills fast, and leaves the economy pumping in the process is better than an economic slowdown that saves lives, and has a more sensible stable re-openings that balance health, safety, AND economics.

If you're tired of soul stealing lawyer work, Rush could set up a meeting with the red horned one and hire you as a scriptwriter.

Couldn't agree more with what you said.

Edit to add: Just watched Fargo Season 3, and this theme definitely plays out over the course of the season.

Honest question for the usual Trump supporters here.... Do you believe that the Murder Bee's are cooked up in a lab by Dr. Fauci and Hillary Clinton to take away your civil liberties, and get Trump out of office?

It's frightening but I can imagine how those on the top of the Far Right food chain and their minions would think along these lines.

But I can't fathom why so many at the bottom would wish for herd immunity, given that they would likely be part of those that take the brunt of the impact. They'd be making enormous sacrifices for "the economy" when they will probably not see the benefits.

I guess they don't see it that way, but I just can't understand why not.

When I saw the news break that Covid disproportionately affects communities of color, I just knew that this news would light a match on how communities now react to Covid response from a political standpoint. Nobody will say it, but we all know that this had a huge impact in the cultural shift in Covid that happened about a month ago that allowed the right wing media funded by billionaires to start a campaign to force open the economy and put people back to work asap.

I also think that the media has done a less than favorable job of humanizing the now 70,000 victims. We as a society need a "Kate Steinley" (victim who was killed by bullet from a gun that fell on the ground by an "illegal" immigrant) to become a victim that we can use for a good cause to have as a reference in a way that tugs on America's heart strings a bit where the folks from the right can see plain and clear that this could be your daughter, or son.... so wear a F-ing mask dumbass.

20??... More like 2. If Trump wins another term I could seen an immigration bill coming down the pipe that has some sort of "sponsorship" proposal for immigrants on a Visa where basically a well off upper class white family is billed as a "sponsor" but really that family/person has a system setup to abuse a vulnerable immigrant by having them do all their labor for them at virtually no payment, and be able to bully them into adhering to their needs as leverage to keep them from being deported or jailed.

And the reality is that informally, many upper middle to upper class families already abuse this cash workforce in finding them out to do manual labor for next to nothing around their household, or with their small businesses, and often are highly disrespectful to those hard working folks that are in poverty, and likely send 90% of their money to their family in Central America. I know many folks that are already doing informally, but I could DEFINITELY see the Trump admin creating a more formal structure for personal immigrant work abuse by dressing it up as a "sponsorship" or something like that.

In some conversations about returning to work, while more liberal workers are reluctant to go in at all, encountered a couple of Trumper types who are eager to return to work but reluctant to wear a mask to do it. They live out in the suburbs where mask use is uncommon but work in town where it is common. Wonder if they feel like they would betray their conservative identity by obeying their employers' safety protocols.

I think the same phenomena that we see coalescing on the bbs. Liberals concluding that any level of risk taking with the virus is downright immoral and conservatives convincing themselves that the whole thing is some version of a hoax -- not nearly as ubiquitous as the media makes out or as dangerous for those who do get it, and in any case nothing bad will happen to them personally, only other people. The cooks I talked to assume the chance they catch something to be tiny.
