This was previewed and inevitable for some time now (the destruction of the post office, and selling that business off to FedEx or UPS). This is what Republicans have been dreaming about since Reagan. 1. The post office is the largest unionized workforce in America. Republicans want to destroy unions. 2. Their fleet has tried for years to move to electric or biofuel vehicles, and that's where the fossil fuel industry has laser targeted them. 3. There is a HUGE money for grifters like Trump and his rich friends in having a hand in selling off this industry to the Corporate Oligarchs. I bet you 100 bucks right now without looking it up that one of Trump's top donors has to be the CEO of one of either FedEx or UPS. How much you want to bet?
If you cannot stop mail in voting . . .then take control of the mail The amount of money going to the Post Office will increase along with the amount of "lost funds" no one can find His Quick Wiki: " Louis DeJoy is a Republican Party fundraiser who was named United States Postmaster General in 2020. At the time of his selection, he was "the first postmaster general in two decades who did not rise through the agency’s ranks."[2] DeJoy was CEO of High Point, North Carolina-based New Breed Logistics from 1983 to 2014, and retired after his company was acquired by Connecticut-based freight transporter XPO Logistics (NYSE: XPO) for a reported $615 million. Following that acquisition he served as CEO of XPO's supply chain business in North America until 2015. [3]" Rocket River
I disagree. When documenting the dismantling of our democracy, every destructive directive should receive dramatic display and discussion. And alliteration. Lots of alliteration.
This seems to be our new way of dealing with problems in this country, and it's very Trumpian. 1. See problem. 2. Exaggerate problem. 3. Blame other people for problem. 4. Sell problem to crony who: a. Can make money off of the problem, and b. Will make the problem worse for everyday people.5. Declare success. It's kind his playbook for real estate and casino "business."
Outside a couple years of Obama control, voters didn't really punish Repuglican ideology for Bush Admin's collapse in governance. They said the government was the problem, drove the car into the ditch and then circularly asserted that the wrecked car was proof the government needed fixing. Emotion combined with stoking latent White Supremacist Privilege overcame attention spans, and here we are. The case for libertarian anarchy is clear. Responsible governance is not a disproof of it anymore, merely a setback until economic winds shift and political fortunes turn. As for the uber rich, they are not ignorant of history. They're going to keep playing the same cards and say **** no to higher tax rates or any semblance of paying off debt that's not theirs. They'll move to the Bahamas or whatever tax haven Putin and Gadafi used before they give anything back. But making America great Functional Again is a nice idea. Have your people set up a meeting with my people....
I hope Reagan is rotting in hell right now for starting this mess know as the current Republican party. The GOP needs to begin by getting rid of police unions first. Anyways, I believe the USPS will get a bailout as too many companies need their services to stay competitive... Retailers launch ad blitz opposing Trump's demand for higher Postal Service delivery rates https://thehill.com/policy/finance/...osing-trumps-demand-for-higher-postal-service
More swamp draining... And before someone chimes in about Amazon, please consider that many thousands of small businesses are partnered with them, and many thousands of workers depend on them for jobs, to say nothing of the millions of Americans that rely on them for their goods and services. Of course, despite what Trump says, it's not really about them, any more than it's about you, the Trump voter.
