Look at this chart and you will see our testing per million to towards the right. Our testing is 1.6% of our population. Only 4 states test less. No, the curve isn't flattening either. You will see the charts if you click on Texas. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
The increased testing only corroborates how dire the situation remains. Regarding whether Texas is flattening the curve? Nope. Not even close... DSHS Dashboard Should update shortly after noon. Keep an eye on the Trends tab.
Thank y'all for the links! What a ****ing shame Texas doesn't have more testing. The ONE solution that is currently not partisan is having more tests, and we still manage to be last 5 in that regards. Still don't understand how wearing masks is a partisan issue. What a weird ass time we are in currently.
Should we start a thread like this for Houston businesses? Call out the businesses that don't follow mandatory and suggested guidelines for themselves, employees, or customers.

Reopening the country seen as greater risk among most Americans: POLL Americans are resistant to re-opening the country, a new ABC News/Ipsos shows. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/reo...oll/story?id=70555060&cid=social_twitter_abcn
This really an interesting question... with all the precautions you would think to protect the president and vice president... two members of their staff came down with Coronavirus. So... what chance does the normal American have?
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-reportedly-got-lava-level-212000774.html Trump reportedly got 'lava level mad' over potential exposure to coronavirus Kathryn Krawczyk , The Week•May 7, 2020 President Trump was reportedly very, very mad about someone else's coronavirus diagnosis. On Thursday, the White House confirmed a member of the military who worked closely with Trump was diagnosed with coronavirus. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence had since tested negative for COVID-19, but Trump was still "lava level mad" he came even close to contracting it, NBC News reports. The unidentified man was a member of Trump's valet, and started showing coronavirus symptoms Wednesday morning, CNN first reported. He remained "close to the president throughout the day on a consistent basis," NBC News writes. And when Trump found out Thursday that person had been in his vicinity, he "became 'lava level mad' at his staff and said he doesn't feel they are doing all they can to protect him from the virus," a person close to the White House told NBC News. Trump's concern of personal infection contrasts with his lax attitude toward reopening businesses around the U.S. He explicitly acknowledged Tuesday that reopening the economy would coincide with "more death," but said the risks would be worth it. Trump denied he had been close with the person who tested positive, saying Thursday "I've had very little personal contact with this gentleman." Instead of his usual weekly tests for COVID-19, Trump said he'll now be tested daily, as did Pence. Intriguing I guess he MAD MAD Why he mad tho?? Rocket River
He only cares about himself. Nothing new. He wants everyone around him tested yet expects people to go to work, a restaurant, salon, etc..and not require them to be tested weekly, or even daily like him. He is pushing Americans to take risks, says he expects deaths, and we are not supposed to be mad. He congratulates Governors like Abbott, who he dangles treats to if they kiss his *ss and do as he wants to get the economy going. His agenda is himself, his ratings, tax cuts and bailouts for his family businesses, calling all news fake if it makes him look bad, and twisting his stories into lie after lie after lie as he backtracks from previous statements. He is the worst possible leader we could have. He truly has no empathy or remorse, and has not or never will admit he is wrong.
The boy needs a bubble...not like the theoretical one where he currently resides...but an actual sphere of ****ing plastic...not like his girlfriends...but...
I was at Kroger yesterday and people are acting as if this entire thing has ended... No mask.. No distancing.. When this thing ramps back up, its going to be out of control.. T_Man
It blows my mind that people are getting careless, businesses are reopening, and our President, Governor, and people around this country are going around without masks and gloves. They are being swayed into a false reality, to push the economy back up and lose countless lives while doing it. The worst part of it all is people think it's safe, when the situation is far worse than a month ago, and barely even existed 2 months ago. It was only April 1st when Texas had its first documented Coronavirus case! By April 8th we had 9,353 cases and 177 deaths. One month later we are up to 37,553 cases and 1042 deaths. What do we do? Turn a blind eye to the risk and go out for a haircut and sit down in a restaurant to eat, and go to a movie. Next week, back to the gyms. This is all on Trump, Abbott, and the leaders who tell people it's time to get back to work. On March 8th the US had 550 cases and 22 deaths. April 8th we had 432,000 cases and 14,700 deaths. May 8th we had 1,321,785 cases and 76,615 deaths. It hasn't been that long people. Don't be fooled by the false images and "guidelines" some follow and some don't. Don't believe that just because someone had a temperature check they couldn't be asymptomatic. After all, those asymptomatic carriers coming over on flights had a temperature check. Also, a word of advice. Don't book a Carnival cruise out of Galveston starting in August. I was told it could be 90 days to get back my refund of a cruise I booked out of Barcelona months before the epidemic. I have yet to get a cent back. Nobody knows what it will be like in August, and as long as the government doesn't stop cruises from sailing, then they will. They are not safe, no matter how they say they will be. For your parents, grandparents, and anyone else you care about who may be vulnerable to infections, please don't risk exposing them. If someone close to you gets ill or dies, it might be something that weighs on you forever. No matter how hard people try to protect themselves and their loved ones, there will always be a few who simply don't care about others. I just wish those few weren't being encouraged by our leaders of this country and our state. Just keep in mind that we went from 1 case to 37,553 cases between April 1st and May 8th!
Dont worry . . . . the numbers will go down soon because we slowing testing and stiflin reporting of numbers Rocket River
I don't blame Trump for getting mad that he's potentially been exposed to the virus. What I don't get is why aren't more people especially those people waving Trump 2020 banners at protest not upset that they are potentially being exposed. I mean if the President is saying that he and people around him are tested all the time that should tell you how serious this virus should be taken..
Good post and wanted to comment on this part in particular. There is no way I'm going to take a cruise and likely ever. Besides just this situation the Cruise industry has a very sketchy history regard other diseases particularly Legionnaires disease. On top of that I'm not a fan of their business practices and they are one of the worst industries in regard to evading taxes and regulations by offshoring headquarters and reflagging ships.
