Boy did he skirt that question. I also noticed how he wouldn't answer David twice about what steps would be taken if numbers keep climbing after reopening businesses.

"Broken tests" again. For a virus unknown until 2019 (in humans, anyway).

Keep telling a lie until people believe it.

You kidding right? If China is to blame why is it that the USA have more than twice as deaths per million than Canada? Why is Canada testing more per million than the us? Explain that? Explain why is Canada doing a better job the US. You can’t blame everything on China.

Trump thinking about disbanding the coronavirus task force. Seriously you can’t make this up. How can anyone defend this man’s handling of this crisis. Let me guess he doesn’t like scientific evidence or facts.

Mainly because of NY and NJ and their leadership. Without them, our deaths per million would be better than most if it isnt already.

Simple, the Chinese used VERY UNFAIR trade practices to hoard all the intravenous bleach dosages.

Trump is having a clear meltdown. I dont' know how anyone can still support him. Every statement that comes out of his mouth is a lie. Even Trump supporters are lying themselves if they say that they still believe everything that comes out of Trumps mouth.

Glad that the election is in November.

Testing isnt curing people. Those damn NY leaders went from telling people to enjoy the city to telling people to stay home while they enjoyed the city. Damn hypocrites

Those nut jobs are not easily controlled in our system of government. With hindsight, everything is easy. Imagine ordering a lockdown before people were taking this seriously. How effective would that have been? How many government officials from either party were supportive of that in January or February?

We have all seen people acting recklessly in the face of pretty clear evidence throughout this tragedy. I agree that now it is pretty clear that we all would have been better off taking extreme measures in January or February. I just doubt that a lot of our populace would have cooperated before there was any significant sign of the problem here.

I have grave concerns about people giving up social distancing now when the evidence is pretty clear that we still have a problem. I am not a huge fan of the blame game based on hindsight and cherry picking.

There are probably other factors that come into play. NY is our ground zero for a reason. Part of it might be the concentration of people; part might be the public transport system (bus and subway) and part might be that NY has a huge number of international travelers come through.

Do we blame NY compared to other cities/states in our country? Or do we recognize the different factors that might be in play?

If we do, it would be intellectually dishonest to just compare Canada to the States without doing a deeper dive.

UK has had some grizzly numbers. I'm too lazy to research but London might be a ground zero for the same reasons NYC is

Why is NY so much worse off than Houston. Why? Why? It must be that NY did something wrong.

Or, it might just be that there are complex factors in play and a simple comparison of death rate doesn't tell the story.

As for testing, I probably agree with you.

    I agree with this.

The scary thing is that we (at least the public) don't know the factors. There are counties in western US that have super high concentration. I can't wrap my head around that. No density. No public transport. No huge events. I have heard no explanation for spikes like that.

My running guess is that Europe's strain with the higher morbidity rate is what NY got while the West Coast got something milder (and probably incubated longer undetected).

But I'm no scientist, I play one on TV.

I hesitate to spread rumors on CF, but I read an article today that seems to agree with you. It said that a mutated strain that was more contagious is what is spreading through rather US.

point of the article was to state that a lot of the vaccine efforts were centered on the original strain from Wuhan. And, they were advocating putting resources to this mutated strain that apparently has something different with the “spikes” that may make it more contagious.
