I typically wouldn't agree with such a high projection count, but even in Austin, traffic is back to being as bad as it's always been again. Most people aren't wearing masks. Also agree with the likelihood of the actual number being suppressed. I read articles that talk about deaths marked as pneumonia or influenza that should be marked as Covid, and that there's been a significant increase in the number of deaths marked as P&I beyond expectations. Then there's difficulty in finding tests, and the fallibility of the test themselves. It's all just one big **** show.
This doesn't work because as we saw - the funeral homes can't operate at that capacity and you start digging mass graves. We will find out eventually.
I wonder how much they are paying passengers? We took a cruise last fall... glad to get that experience since its the last I will probably take.
We've been on a few, and they are fun. Good food, entertainment, access to ports of call. But... the chances of avoiding contact seem way higher as there are usually lines to everything. And relatively close quarters throughout the ship. Any cruise would have to change so much to make it "safe" (way fewer passengers, safe distancing demands, greater regard to food handling) that it just isn't something I would risk. I think our vacations will be "drivcations" for the next few years. That is assuming we will be able to afford taking vacations.

Another example of death cult mentality. A few observations about these "re-open" protests: 1) Why do they look like Charlottesville Unite the Right marchers (or maybe a Trump rally, but minus the older folks and token minority members they like to place in camera view behind Trump) in demographics and choice of clothing and signs? 2) The economic pain is VERY real for many people, but I wonder whether those gathered for these protests are the ones actually feeling the most economic anxiety and pain. They seem to be mostly "Liberty or Death" signs, Confederate flags, expensive rifles, bulletproof vests, and the occasional swastika. 3).If states re-open carefully, under strict physical distancing/protective gear-wearing conditions, and reversing as needed if an outbreak looks to be about to happen, perhaps we can keep the health care system from being overwhelmed. But the way these people behave make me highly doubt that they would follow these guidelines rather than threatening to shoot store employees who ask them to wear masks. A lot of us would feel much less comfortable going to visit the re-opened businesses knowing that assholes like these are out there.

Hard to imagine anything dumber than re-opening during a pandemic. Without mitigation, deaths could approach the millions. But hey, maybe the real life play out of the Purge is a good thing. Who needs all the old and poor people.
