So I am replacing my Motorola Z Force 2 after 4 years of thankless doling. What a great phone: one of the best features was the unbreakable screen. I never had to worry about it.
Loved that phone, but now I am replacing it with a Google Pixel 4. I took advantage of the $499 price.
Anyway the screen on that is highly breakable.
And long story short was I was once again a victim of trying to swim through the sea of strapped-up protection hype.
The Google pixel 4 comes with Gorilla Glass 5.
After hours of looking up options for this phone I settled on the Rhinoshield Solidsuit case. The thing is thin as you can get with respectable drop protection.
I thought after that that I was done, but Rhinoshield recommends that I buy a 9h shield screen protector. And thus calamity ensues.
First of all: I don't plan on taking a utility knife to my $499 smartphone, just to see. Nor do I want a piece of trashy-looking plastic that can get scratched easier than the gorilla glass that my unit comes with: but no, Mr. Youtube Product Unboxing Guy, insists, you need one.
"But what about those liquid screen protectors, what about those," I ask, intrepidly.
"You mean snake oil," he tells me. "No, that won't do, put this shitty plastic on instead and then you can drop a ball barring on it from a height of 4 meters."
"I look puzzled," why would I do that to my phone, I think.
Doesn't matter, he pipes in. Get it and now."
"Here," he says, shoving it at me.
Or, converesly you could buy a sanitized wipe from a company called: qmadix that claims if the phone screen breaks then they will give me $250 for a plastic replacement screen: with shittier colors.
"But I am buying your product so that my screen wont break."
"Well you can trust us, we have a warranty."
"I don't want a warranty I want me screen not to break."
I am confused: am I buying alcohol wipes with a warranty or an actual protection: the box does say that it kills 99.9% of microbial bacteria. Smdh.

I have a pixel 3a with a Spigen Tough Armor case on it. Spigen is cheap. It's great though. I don't use a screen protector. Have dropped many times (2 year old), and no issues.

I almost bought that one too, i just didn't like the branding on it. The one I got, Rhinoshield has their branding on the side, which I like better.
I also looked at the speck stay clear case.
    The Rhinoshield seems fantastic.
