That's easy to figure out .... @ipaman is a Bernie supporter.

He doesn't like the Dems anymore than he does Trump but since he doesn't side with the Dem majority , they cast stones and call him a Trump supporter.

Same thing has happened to me on many occasions being an independent .... I detest Trump and won't vote for him , but don't let that get in the way if I don't fall in line with the D side. Can't count the time's I've been called a Trumper .... One said "You are all over the place" .... No **** , I'm not bound by a party ... just common sense and fair play.

EDIT , late to the party - Yeah , I know that post is 2 weeks ago .... I haven't been here much and didn't notice until after I posted it. Go to First unread ....

I support Bernie. I didn't incessantly defend Trump for 2 years and claim that Biden is as bad as Trump. That's what ipaman did and that's why people question his voting record.

Justin Amash seeking Libertarian Party nomination. I don't know much about him, but I think he's more of a Ron Paul libertarian than a Bob Barr Libertarian. So that's a good thing.

On twitter, where discussion is always civil and level-headed, there are only 3 possible reactions to this:

    1) Don't matter none. No one cares. Will not impact anything.
    2) This is DEVASTATING for Biden!!! He will soak up a lot of the anti-Trump vote that would have otherwise gone to Biden! Amash is a clown and/or secret Trump/Russia plant!!
    3) This is DEVASTATING for Trump!!! He will soak up a lot of the conservative vote that would have otherwise gone to Trump! Amash is a clown and/or secret Biden/Ukraine plant!!

It's possible to disagree w/ the Dem. party and agree with Trump on certain things and still not support him in the election. It doesn't have to be "all or nothing". It's indicative of being an 'independent', IMO.

Back to the the topic of the thread: I believe there's still time for the Dem's to replace their candidate. With all that is going on, it wouldn't matter as much. I don't feel the Dem's are pot committed. Traditionally, yes. In the past it would be to late. In this climate, voters aren't going to be focused on the election up until 3 months out, IMO. They could easily replace Joe with Amy. And she would win. Joe has an uphill battle.

But the reality is the Repubs have gone all in with the push to open the country back up. If that blows up, forget it. I sincerely hope that the goal of opening back up isn't purposely undermined. Not so the Repubs can claim a win. But for the future of this country.

Biden is not even CLOSE to as bad as Trump - as a fellow Bernie guy, I will be proudly casting my vote for ANYONE but Trump.

I mean let's review The Donald.

Convicted of Fraud with a children's charity - Check
Convicted of Racist policies as a landlord - Check
Convicted of Money laundering in his casinos - 2 times - Check
Sued for having sex with a 13 year old with Epstein - Check
Been accused by more than 20 women of sexual abuse - check
Illegally paid off a p*rn star and lied about it - Check
Has polices that separates families and cages kids - Check
Lied about bone spurs to duck the draft - Check
Has bankrupted at least 11 companies - Check
Owes Chinese and Russian banks millions - Check
Has cheated on numerous wives and girlfriends - Check
Golfs more than any President after b****ing about it before - Check
Lines his own pockets with taxpayers money by going to resorts he owns - Check

The guy is flat out a crook and scammer/con artist.

There is no comparison - Trump has to go - don't care how.....

    DD

PS. Didn't even mention getting impeached for improperly asking a foreign government for a personal favor.

I agree. Donald Trump is like any other human who is on a gradient scale of incompetence which means he occasionally will make correct decisions.

But that isn't what ipaman had done for two years. He defended Trump incessantly on almost every subject matter involving him.

What they're saying is that later polls are more accurate than early polls? Umm, isn't that sorta obvious?

Sure... since later in an election cycle voters tend to get more knowledge about candidates and get more locked-in on their candidates. Though this election may have less than that... voters know trump and Biden. My guess is that whatever uncertainty exists relates to the COVID-19 crisis and whether the lock downs will end and the economy gets back to where it was. Though I wonder if that will even effect trump supporters, who seem to be completely locked in at this point.

If this were the 2012 election I would probably vote for Amash. If somehow Amash were the current nominee of the GOP I would vote for Amash. Justin Amash is one of the few politicians I respect even while I have a lot of differences with him. Biden certainly isn't a politician that I respect but Trump is already a threat to the Constitutional norms and undermines the practically daily.

I will say it again but with where we are at now it would be a big mistake to replace Biden. I don't like Biden but this is one of those you don't change horses in middle of the river. Biden has won the Democratic Primary. I would've like to see Klobuchar or Buttigieg or even John Hickenlooper but that's now what happened. For all of the cries that it was rigged and the DNC were cheating Biden won overwhelmingly. It's hard to claim the DNC was tilting the scales when Sanders couldn't win a single county in MI. That is the will of the voters and as much as many don't like Biden there are clearly many who do and if the DNC were to replace him that would truly be cheating those who voted for him and undermine the whole process of having primaries.

The party would rather lose than give the spot to #2 Bernie. Like rj mentioned, picking Amy is weird since she didn't kill it in the primaries, you know that months old national process that let people vote their nominee.

Dems are stuck w/ Joe for better or worse.

DNC and Democrat establishment tilts the scales not from voter fraud but from having more influence in mainstream media circles in delivering their narrative than the progressive movement.

It's not some dark secret conspiracy. It's just a natural reaction to the status quo being challenged. I know I as someone who rooted for Bernie to win the nomination never made claims that Democrats rigged the election. Most Bernie supporters and I are saying that every part of the status quo from board members of large media companies to lobbiests to think tanks funded by Wall Street bankers etc all were rooting for "anyone but Bernie" for the DNC primaries.

Many of them (Dems / Liberals) cannot comprehend that distinction. You are either with them or against them.

They only give a damn about independents & libertarians when it suits their purpose - voting day - other than that , we are just as much the enemy as the GOP.

Poll shows Trump, Biden in tight race in Texas

A tight race is shaping up in Texas between former Vice President Joe Biden and President Trump, according to a new poll.

Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, has a slim 1-point lead over Trump in Texas, based on a poll from the left-leaning firm Public Policy Polling released Wednesday. Biden’s lead is within the poll’s 3.1 percentage-point margin of error.

Biden has 47 percent support and Trump has 46 percent support, based on the poll.

The same poll found that amid the coronavirus pandemic, just 46 percent of Texas voters said they approve of the job Trump is doing as president, and 49 percent said they disapprove.

The poll also found that 58 percent of Texas voters surveyed said they approve of Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) job performance and just 30 percent said they disapprove.

The Public Policy Polling survey shows a closer race between Biden and Trump in Texas compared to other recent polls. A University of Texas-Texas Tribune poll released last week found the president leading his Democratic challenger by 5 points.

A Democrat hasn’t won a presidential election in Texas since former President Carter in 1976, but the Lone Star State is one of several battleground states Democrats are hoping to flip in November.

The Democratic National Committee expanded its “Battleground Build-Up 2020” program in February to include Texas.

The Public Policy Polling survey was conducted between April 27 and 28. Pollsters surveyed 1,032 Texas voters.

I respect Amash. I'm in no way a libertarian, but I might prefer Amash to either Trump or Biden. But I won't be voting third party in this election.
