lol @ Triple team 3:34 of first video. That turn around baseline fade away shot was money even early on in his career. Some incredibly tough shots in both videos made by Hakeem. This Piston team was brutal in the post. They would make you earn every basket in the paint. They were champions and had some great defenders and yet Hakeem was abusing them. Never seen Hakeem outmatched at his position before he started declining after his knee surgery. Just imagine how many more rings Hakeem would have had if Rockets had not wasted a chunk of his prime years with duds.
As much as the Insecure TV Personality reactionary fans we got here hate it, Kenny Smith was much better than Sleepy Floyd. He can get the ball to Dream, has very little turnovers, and he can hit open shots, especially 3s. Dream couldn't win a title with Buck Johnson and an old Sleepy Floyd . The videos are refreshing to see someone dominate in the paint like that. Sick of seeing non stop 3 point shots.
Danuel house has the potential to play like olujuwon. Even hartenstein can potentially be as good as scola or Hakeem olujuwon. House already has the face up jumper. The timing has to develop for house to make plays in the paint. Same goes for hartenstein. Olujuwon ran out the floor, blocked shots ...shiet... olujuwon leads blocked shot all time. Olujuwon made all kind of shots.
Uh, House and Hartenstein can potentially be as good as Hakeem (the best player to ever play for the Rockets and yes, that includes Harden!) WOW, THE ANSWER IS NO!
Hartenstein can for sure be in the neighborhood of a Nikola jokic without a doubt. Hartenstein got skills in neighborhood of greats like Luis scola! Danuel House put up Robert horry type numbers in his first playoff series against the jazz under a small ball system. Danuel house was putting himself in position to average double-double over the final 20 games without a doubt.
what's so crazy about hakeem's offensive game is that he had so many areas of attack. Midpost & lowpost on either block, catch and shoot plays coming above the free throw line, the ability to iso face up against all the big tall stiffs that teams would throw at him to try to neutralize his post game. he hits his fts, was agile enough to contain perimeter guys enough, and could even hit the occasional three. and I remember an article citing him as the highest percentage consistent shooter against double and triple teams ...
House may never be as good as Olajuwon (lulz), but, House might be smarter because he left UH for a school that could provide a REAL education, unlike Dream.
i think it might have been mahorn joking in an interview that he was so versatile that they had 2 scouting reports for him, one for hakeem and one for olajuwon.
oh ya, i think i heard that one on open court, i believe it was isaiah thomas quoting either mahorn or john salley
The demise of Lloyd, Wiggins and Lucas contributed to that. Loss of that talent set us back years IMO.
