I would agree if it were just their body. Unfortunately they will spread the virus, and keep the rest of us quarantined longer. They also put the healthcare workers that have to care for them and those they infect in danger. Sadly, this isn't a case of 'their body, their choice at all.'
What the hell are you rambling about? Chrysler Fiat has been very successful since the merger just look at the sales. Nobody is talking about the reliability of individual cars.
While they're prolonging the pain for everyone else, they get to jump the queue for hospitals. Bit perverse how selfishness by a minority wins Same reason why forceful anti-vaxxers are inherently dangerous to public health.
Exactly. It's not like they went out to grab groceries or any other perishable items to help stimulate the economy. I mean I guess they could have used some of that stimulus on American flags, giant white posters with black and red markers to make their swastikas, but all the protest ultimately did was increase the spread of the virus, endangered healthcare workers with more unnecessary cases that could have easily been avoided with some common sense and ultimately prolong the danger of mass viral spreading by now being carriers themselves. I dunno why so much legislation is being catered to a public minority of Trump supporters. Why does a 40% and dwindling support base dictate the livelihood and well being of the other 60%? If that isn't privilege, I don't know what is.
Thats why i added dont do arrestable things. If they play by the rules, they should be allowed to protest. If what they are doing is against the law, then cite them or arrest them.
You have no idea of what you speak. I started as a food stamp caseworker and have worked in state agencies for 30+ years and can assure you that you are incorrect in your assessment of the motivation of food stamp recipients.
I wonder if there are any anti-vaccination cases that have been taken to USSC to determine how much personal freedom you should have with your body. Like I get tattoos, piercings, ability to surgically change your sex and have as many sexual partners as you want as long as it's consensual among legal aged adults. At the same time, I know there have been cases where someone with HIV that knew they had it and was still deliberately spreading the virus by having unprotected sex without being on any sort of medication to aid in remission. These people have been viewed guilty under the eyes of the law to my understanding. If you're a known carrier of Covid and you still go out and spread it, sure eventually you get to go home and sit your fat ass in front of the TV. At the same time your interactions at the grocery store for instance maybe got the lady working in produce sick, but she's 23 and isn't going to respond too badly from contracting it. Except she goes to the break room with other coworkers, some who deal with hypertension and obesity. She's even good friends with someone that's high risk working in the Deli section. She still lives at home with a mom in her 70s who again is high risk. Everyone in the break room catches it. The mom catches. Some end up in ICU. Some even die. And the dumb **** not exercising precaution by being a carrier is none the wiser as they go on social media with their freedom to be pieces of **** rants online.
I agree. The protests might create an infection cluster, but I'm not keen to let that get in the way of the exercise of their political speech. FB is right they're increasing the burden. But I'd consider protest an essential business, like a grocery store or a hospital is essential. We don't complain about a grocery store stocker making himself yet another vessel for coronavirus; neither do I want to complain about the political protester.
The goal as I understand it is not to avoid infections but to keep the infection rate slow enough that that we can apply our healthcare capabilities to all patients without scarcity and minimize avoidable deaths -- flattening the curve. We do this long enough and a herd immunity develops as people who are exposed to the virus have built their own antibodies to fight future infections (to whatever extent the immune response remains effective which still needs more scientific study, I recognize). So half the Liberate crowd should get the virus sooner or later anyway and doctors and nurses will need to attend to those who get a severe case. So, no, I don't have a problem saying that to doctors and nurses who should understand this dynamic anyway. I don't want to actually put in place the demands of the Liberate protest and risk overwhelming a hospital, but insofar as we have some space between the infection curve and the hospital capacity ceiling, I'm fine with putting some protesters into empty hospital beds if that's what they want to do.
I quoted this yesterday in response to someone who was saying we need to lift these stay at home orders for freedom. "The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of created beings capable of law, where there is no law, there is no freedom." John Locke Freedom isn't just doing what you want when you want. Freedom without responsibility is anarchy and freedom doesn't existing without laws to guarantee the rights of all. While you may complain that not being able to get a haircut or work in what is considered a non-essential job we have to consider the rights of those who are the most vulnerable or are willing to just sacrifice them for the sake of economy that really isn't a free society.
When you're the type who tries to triagulate between a bunch of dumb shitheads and sanity, you end up dumb and shitty.
