And would that include the upcoming waves in fall and winter? Or any deaths recategorized from COVID-19 related complications (like the ones reported in February in California)?
Not sure TXTony. Just seemed very low based on the daily deaths. Yes, i would assume those deaths would count also New Rox Fan.
So were are currently at 45,000+ deaths in the US, a number that has grown week to week for the past month or so. And you question a projection of 65,000 that would include a second and possibly more waves? A future wave that some scientists believe might have more deaths than this current wave we are in?
Yes, i am confused with the argument? Are you good with the estimate or are we on the same page and you just want to argue because we rarely agree?
Is your argument that projections of 60,000 to 65,000 seem way low? If so, I misunderstand your post with my apologies and yes, we are in agreement that the projected deaths will be much higher (into the hundreds of thousands).
Lol lets muddy the water some more..umm what was the question? Whos on first? the sad part is at part where arguing semantics of 45k dead vs 60. Let that sink in. go to the vietnam memorial in dc when we get to 58k and look at all those names so you can get a visual. All since what? February?
I don't know why they put 60k as the projection. Models aren't supposed to be about precise numbers but rather for preparation and scenario analysis. Such as if we do this, how will that impact the number of deaths. The models for covid are not based on a lot of data, so they are going to be inaccurate. If the total deaths are say 90K, from a model standpoint, it's actually pretty much aligned.
Unfortunately this seems the case. We're already past 45,000 (and this is likely a gross under-count, but leaving that aside); I don't see how they predict 66,000 or so by the end of August. It's as if they're giving the most optimistic prediction possible, knowing in their heart of hearts.... Pretty soon we'll be counting some of the Georgia dumbasses who went bowling or to get a tattoo or to see a movie that came out in February at the local metroplex, just so their Governor could kiss Trump's, uh, ring. "FREEDOM!" they yell, William Wallace style......famous last words.
More people will get it than not when this is all over. Georgia will rip that bandaid and maybe they can recover as a state quicker. If I were a healthcare worker, I'd gtfo there while it happens. No need to get infected and reinfected for people who don't understand public safety. Or worse, choose whether who gets to live or die.
One has to think that every person is a nursing home like facility in this country is at extreme risk until vaccine or herd immunity. For keeping score at home, nursing homes do not have ventilators. I can see it now ... Trump will be pimping for a nursing home public assistance program.
