Oh, I don't? Well, let's see. They b****ed under Obama because he wasn't their guy. However, Obama allowed them to expand enough to become the World's largest oil producer (US). This included the "lean" years for Drillers around 2013...when the country was still recovering from 2008. When Trump was elected, they thought they could Maximize Rig counts because he was "their guy" and Oil prices would magically rise and keep gas prices between a certain level and Oil Prices between $80-$100. What they fail to realize Trump doesn't care about anyone and he is a shitty leader....that LIES ALOT. Oil Companies thought they could get access to various oil fields that have been off limits....and the good times would continue. Trump's lack of leadership and he is dedicated to HIMSELF, caused the shutdown of the country with his lack of preparedness and awareness. So focus on re-election and how re-acting to this virus would look on him as President, he didn't see the train coming down the tracks that people around him was screaming was coming. His inaction, caused...directly and indirectly the oil crash. Oil companies refusals to cut production (greed) was another factor.

Now, Drilling companies are "STACKING" (hmmm, where did I get that term?) Rigs left and right...trying to stay afloat. Laying off or transferring works to other Rigs....hoping to keep enough of their experienced Rig Managers, Drillers, Floor, and Motormen to ride this out.

I don’t think the shale business model is sustainable in most cases (there are exceptions) 3. What’s good for the micro is bad for the macro

I could tell you the Drilling companies I'm familiar with, but I won't. Still pisses me off that they burn off All that Natural Gas.........because they can't make money off it. It is like those farmers pouring out milk...when people are lined up for food handouts.

You’re mad, but you don’t understand what you’re mad about. There’s a big mixture of things that you’ve mentioned, many of them oversimplified or missing the point completely. You don’t have the whole story. Politics doesn’t play as big of a role in all of this as you think.

There will be a lot of collateral damage in the oil industry. Big Oil will be fine. Many of the smaller companies that make up the support infrastructure will fail and that will be the tragedy.

 

Its a pretty massive story. We could very well be heading into a depression.
