Those who qualify for any state unemployment can receive a fed supplement of 600/week for up to four months. They have also broadened eligible recipients due to Covid-19. So, in NY I think you would be looking at 1000/week.

Have not looked at it but at the moment we're not in bad shape. My business has done very well recently and we held onto a fair amount of cash. Obviously if this goes on for months things will get bad but can weather this for a while.

    Sorry to hear about that.

Regarding unemployment, you can legally collect it if you are furloughed or laid off. People quitting their jobs to collect unemployment are engaging in fraud and they could be looking at jail time down the road.

I am hoping eveything works out well with everyone's jobs. Hopefully we can look back at this time and take pride in our resiliency.

Thanks and no def not quitting. I won’t have the luxury of that choice from what I was told yesterday. I don’t have a finalized number yet for my reduced salary if I’m fortunate enough to not get laid off on Friday with everyone else. However I’m just curious if it’s 30 to 50%, at what point would It be better to get furloughed. I guess I’ll find out in the next 48. Either way I feel ready for it as I’ve had weeks now to get my ducks in a row knowing this was highly probable. Still sucks though but I know I’m still one of the lucky ones.

    Good post!

For me I survived the Great Recession which was pretty bad and I have much better resources now than then. Also I've been predicting we would have a recession at some point for the last couple of years just based on the economic cycle won't keep growing indefinitely so I and my company built up reserves. Personally I feel I'm in much better shape than many people and am more worried about other people I know.

South Korea did not use antibody testing.

The antibody testing here has a very poor accuracy (a lot of them were developed by Chinese companies) and can be sold here now because there is no regulation. This is very dangerous because a test that is only 50% accurate would cost lives.

Texas needs to ramp up the testing before considering any push back to normal. We are so far behind the rest of the country. How can the second highest populated state in America be testing less than 50 other states per million?

Hopefully we see some changes with the addition of a couple rapid testing centers.

Coming from a guy with no reality of what it's like trying to make ends meet. His home in DC was 12.5 million 3 years ago. He sold his Manhatten home for 32 million, and bought his LA home in 2009 for 26.5 million.

Maybe that's what he pays his housekeepers for 10 weeks of work.

Mnuchin probably couldn't live on $1,200 in one day.

Mnuchin better be grateful for that wealth.

No way that woman would look at him with anything (especially with that great-grandson of Phantom of the Opera smile he brandishes) but pity if he didn't have wealth / power.

Not that I'm defending her. She can jump into that well in Moria (the one Pippin knocked the skeleton/bucket into) for all I care.

Unfortunately, abbott was late to act on stay-at-home, and early to end stay-at-home. Takes the cowards approach with both...

At this point it is all but certain we are going to see a second wave coming in the next month. Too many states are backing down on stay at home orders and with FL planning on opening beaches we will likely see people from other states going to states that are more relaxed on shelter in place orders, getting infected and coming back to their own states.

All of this is on top of another likely wave in Fall.

Nothing better then relaxing quarantine 2 weeks before projected peak use of hospital resources .

This is what you get when you elect clowns.
