The Chernobyl Fire was never going to affect the reactor site. Too many roads and too much concrete. You can see in this illustration how firefighters burned out from the roads and railroad to stop the spread. Two scary things though: the area has been converted to grass and shrub (which burn more regularly) or young, dense, even-aged stands (that burn easily). Also, it's mid-April and May, June, July, August, and September always follow April. In short, the area will continue to experience fires for many, many years. Notice the close spacing of young trees in this photo. Leaf litter carries the fire but when it reaches the crowns, there is also a continuous fuel bed. Here's one of the places that apparently burned. Note the ground fuel. This is a fairly open stand, but you can also see many ladder fuels that the fire could use to reach the canopy. You'll never do any kind of forest management (thinning) in a radioactive area, so you can expect these conditions to reappear every 15-30 years.

Martyrdom is a greater dopmamine high for some people than safely breathing the next day's air. He died doing the thing he loved?
It would be ok if he was just risking his own life. He risked the life of his congregation, his and their families, grocery store workers and health professionals they came into contact with, and even the people who had to deal with their corpses. So, **** his martyrdom.
He was able to convince himself and others that his/their faith was greater and purer than other people's faith/faithlessness. That must rank higher for St. Peter than other "material" acts of good will.
i am reminded again of the man staying with his house in a flood, despite multiple rescue boats and even a helicopter crew begging him to come with them to safety. But he said God would take care of him. After he drowned, he asked God why He didn’t help. “Are you kidding? Who do you think sent the rescuers?” In our case, God gave us brains and even medical experts to help us know what to do. EDIT: sorry if this is too close to D&D material.

Just last week they were saying that these finger prick tests are inherently less sensitivite with as low as 30% correct results, and should be abandoned as tools. And this guy bought them even before that.
That's the fundamental issue gripping our nation. Neither side trusts each other in their words or intentions. Acts of kindness or precaution are treated with suspicion and doubt.
