You can show the Chinese lynching innocent people in the middle of the streets, you can post pics of the reopened markets, but the left is too afraid to do anything until one of their tribal leaders points it out. This is tribalism, not politics.
Until the Chinese government addresses and condemns this ****, I can only assume that they’re giving their tacit approval. Absolutely disgusting. And what’s even stupider is that many of those getting unfairly evicted come from places without any cases and/or have been in China this whole ****ing time, so in what way are they more likely to have the virus?? And remember, there have been travel restrictions in place since March 28th, so if you see anybody deflecting blame of new cases on foreign returnees, remember: it’s only Chinese nationals and medical workers or other special visas allowed in right now, so all the new cases are repatriated, not imported. What’s happening in Guangzhou now is being discussed in the embassies of both the US and several other countries here in Beijing, though I personally don’t know what they can do about this since it’s in Guangzhou and it’s not getting the coverage, either in or out of China. Unfortunately, it seems the only way to get the GZ government to compensate and apologize to these people is through shame, and aside from the Shenzhen city government it seems that they have none. Governments are for serving the people. Not holding on to power. And despite what it may seem like to the outside world at the moment, there has been growing discontent among the younger people in China over how things were handled. Though work may have basically returned to normal now, the amount of small businesses and jobs lost during the Coronavirus lockdowns were too many to count. I just wish Chinese folks wouldn’t get so defensive when others criticize the government, especially when it’s things that they themselves say all the time...they have a lot to learn from us in this matter: we talk **** and let others talk **** about our government all the time. It’s a sign of confidence.
What exactly do you want the left to do about it? I thought the GOP held the senate, presidency, and basically the SCOTUS as well. Shouldn't you be asking what Trump will do about it?

Eating dogs is no longer an accepted part of Chinese culture, least of all the torturing of animals before being eaten. When I was protesting the Dog meat festival in Beijing, guess who most of those alongside me were? Chinese people. China undoubtedly has had some horrifying dining habits, but the Coronavirus has brought them into the public eye in a way that nothing has ever had before...including SARS. The paradigm was already shifting long before this, anyway. You don’t have to believe me, but I’m an unbiased observer at ground zero and I always call it like I see it. And at least spoiler tag that dog in a pot, please.
