    It does fit the pattern...

There are plenty of other promising drugs that could fit the bill. I think he chose poorly and doesn't like admitting he's wrong. But he's definitely trying to draw focus on the cure rather than the execution and work the government needs to do in the meantime.

Odd situation for a president no one wants to convict. Mitch is already drawing up insurance plans for an Autumn bloodbath by confirming judges in crisis mode.

    Bless that man's heart...

I read that a few days ago. Who in that hell this dude opens a new medical equipment business from thin air and becomes the world's biggest supplier of PPEs in a matter of weeks? Wanna get the federal government is one of their biggest customers? Shocking!

Scaremongering about a drug because Trump talked about it is just as dangerous as pumping it up as 100 percent safe. There are risks with prescription meds. There are other studies underway too. Can't wait to see the results.

I am sure that since Trump is a careful reader of Scientific Studies he will stop pushing this as a cure. amirite?

It appears that Trump's one and only super power is to fire people. Fauci will soon be fired, no doubt. All CV problems will then laid at Fauci's feet, misleading the President and all

Huge fight breaks out among White House coronavirus task force over Trump’s touting of coronavirus drug: report

Axios reported Sunday evening that a huge fight broke out at the White House over the weekend about the use of Hydroxychloroquine to treat the coronavirus.

According to the site, economic adviser Peter Navarro went up against infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci over the antimalarial drug to fight COVID-19.

“This drama erupted into an epic Situation Room showdown. Trump’s coronavirus task force gathered in the White House Situation Room on Saturday at about 1:30 pm, according to four sources familiar with the conversation. Vice President Mike Pence sat at the head of the table,” said Axios.

At the end of the meeting, Commissioner of Food and Drugs Stephen Hahn brought up the drug, that Trump has now decided is a “game-changer.”

Navarro then “brought over a stack of folders and dropped them on the table. People started passing them around,” said the report.

“And the first words out of his mouth are that the studies that he’s seen, I believe they’re mostly overseas, show ‘clear therapeutic efficacy,’” a source familiar told Axios. “Those are the exact words out of his mouth.”

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key member of the task force, explained that the research on it isn’t sufficient and only anecdotal. Those researching it in France and China aren’t providing for a control group in their efforts.

Evidently, Fauci saying “anecdotal” set Navarro off, a source explained.

“That’s science, not anecdote,” another source recalled Navarro saying. He then began blaming Fauci for problems the United States was facing.

“You were the one who early on objected to the travel restrictions with China,” Navarro shouted.

According to someone in the room, Fauci looked confused. Fauci has actually praised the travel restrictions since Trump enacted them.

    Vice President Mike Pence intervened.

“It was pretty clear that everyone was just trying to get Peter to sit down and stop being so confrontational,” one of the sources recalled.

Presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner told Navarro to “take yes for an answer” and said they would surge the drug to top areas.

Trump touted the drug on Saturday and Sunday during his press conference, even saying that people should use it before they contract the virus.

As the story was posted on the site, #FireFauci was trending on Twitter with Trump supporters promoting the hashtag.

Read the full report at Axios.

I'm just expecting side effects from this drug push to emerge 10 years from now where you'll see, "You could be entitled to compensation" class action lawsuits that air mid day on public access television, except instead of mesothelioma, it'll be whatever health defects emerge from taking this drug instead. Like actual public health officials have stated, it's safety has not been verified and may actually kill you. That would be a textbook example of the cure being worse than the problem.

Guys, I've said it before but it bears repeating. Think about Basketballhollic and the Ricky Rubio trade that never happened. This is the same tactic that Trump is doing but in a way that costs lives & creates global catastrophe.

He singled out Hydroxychloroquine because he thought initially based on some early studies that it had the best chance, and he's doing that so if it pans out to work in some way, he can claim to have been the genius he wants you to believe he is. And he wants his name to be in the history books for being the only person in the world to find the cure for Covid 19.

Why is he doubling down on that theory of his he wants so bad to be true.... I really don't know. Likely pride, and his narcissism. He probably also now has created a feedback loop on the internet with Trump cultists talking about this drug nonstop, and he's listening to his far right cult followers more than the world leading health officials.

Look... If Alex Kennedy was saying that the Rubio to Houston trade MIGHT happen, but Woj said it was not, who do you think Hollic would be posting about as confirmation that he is right??? I'm not calling Jopat a narcissist but I'm also not saying he is not one. I think though it's important to understand how the brain of someone like this works. Being the ONLY PERSON to predict something that comes true is the ultimate ego stroke.

I mean it was one guy named Carl who had some side effects. That tweet makes it sound like a big deal but that is the correct action if someone has negative side effects. Actual studies need to be done and not just write ups about some bloke. You can hardly get much out of this news but scaremongering with a small incident seems overkill. Same as the people equating medicine to fish tank cleaner.

Who is scaremongering? It's a drug meant for Malaria. People want to know if they should take it for Coronavirus because it is being touted by the president as a miracle drug only he could have created to save the world.

People just want the truth, and the truth is... RIGHT NOW it's for malaria, and it has some nasty side effects so you shouldn't rush out to start mixing it in your morning Kale Smoothie.

Also - I've seen the results of those early studies out of China via MedCram. My take on it is wow... doctors really don't need a large majority to catagorize a study as "positive". And if I was in the miracle drug guessing game (I'm NOT), the other drug that starts with an R seems like a much better guess, but again its a guess at this point.

If you have a severe case of Covid that might cost you your life, and your doctor wants you to take HydroxyChloroquine... I would take it. If you do not, you should not take it until there are more extensive studies done. Not sure why that's so hard for everyone to just say. It was created for Malaria people. Covid 19 is not Malaria. There are hundreds of placebo tests being done right now I'm sure, and a rush to create a vaccine. Lets just let the medical professionals do their thing, and do what we can to help NOT overwhelm our hospitals by social distancing.

I have long said the same bro. Let the pros handle it.

Scarmongering is a problem though and so are people touting it as a cure. I am of the opinion we need solid studies and not single case stories... like the carl story above. And larger studies than the chinese one.
