I don't know about NY but in Spain Italy and France this is what is happening. They don't test some healthcare workers because they can't afford to quarantine them anymore. France has lost already 5, Italy more than 30 ...in the UK it is going to be a massacre. BUT when it comes to retirement age people, or even more those who volunteered and came back from retirement to help, it is UNACCEPTABLE. 70-75 year olds that are exposed to a huge viral load!!! My father is a retired doctor and I have absolutely forbidden him to even think of volunteering. We call them heroes but what happens is that everyone is sending them to die! The applauding is just ironic. You give weapons to heroes and you take care of them you don't treat them as tools!

Masks help reduce the sick from spreading their filthy drops of germs. It’s notorious in Asia but is part of the culture that has made containing the virus more effective than what’s seen in Europe. The problem is that people wearing masks here as a precaution will either be looked down upon or even beat down for being “unclean” or a “spreader”. Totally ironic and counter productive reaction. If wearing masks when you’re not a healthcare pro is an “overreaction”, the overreaction to it likely makes the situation worse in its own way.
Family member came back positive it took 7 days to get the result and this likely means my sister has it as well. Sister has all the same signs lots of stomach issues. They are not super sick but the one guy who tested positive was hospitalized abd since out...but it has been no easy experience for him and my sister. It is disappointing that so many trumper and hoaxer types are really out there making it worse. I don't go on facebook too much but there are some shockingly dumb people giving their shockingly dumb advice about no biggie or hoax. This is why I think Uk will get especially hammered. In uk they have this same arrogance. Its interesting to me how similar uk and red states are. even my dad was saying "allergies" after I told him the family member had tested positive specifically this. They dont want to accept it. Its going to be really a high number of positive cases in these loose locations. This stuff is super duper contagious.
