Trump wasn’t referring to the virus as a hoax. There is a mountain of facts that show how inept, unprepared and oblivious Trump has been on this issue without going out of context.
I have Trump a chance... he is a bad President. I just do not understand the need to take something out of context. Trump isn’t Obama... he isn’t careful, he produces bulletin board material every single day... Run with that.
It was worse than that. He called the left’s reaction to the virus as a hoax. With that statement by the president it has lead to only 40 percent on the right to treat this as serious threat. He helped spread this virus causing more deaths than it should be. He used a crisis as a political tool in a rally. This shows he pretty much like treated this as a nothing burger. This is why the US is parallel with Italy and not South Korea in the spread of the virus. He called the reaction to the virus by the media and the left as a hoax. This just illustrates his belief that the virus was not serious. In weeks to come we will see the impacts of his actions or lack of come to fruition. I just hope that the social distancing was not too late to stop the Italian projections
I want Trump to succeed in this crisis and I think most Americans want Trump to succeed. The fact is he is the President and we only have one President at a time. This is why I seriously believe he should stop talking more than just introducing his team and by all that is sacred STOP TWEETING!!! Markets tank when he speaks. His tweets cause more uncertainty and feed panic, and not just during this crisis. This also doesn't mean that Trump shouldn't face hard questions or that we as Americans shouldn't be critical of him. The Presidency isn't a job to be coddled or to wallow in self-pitying. That Trump continues to lash out at critics, put forward false hope and self-aggrandizing rhetoric is exactly the wrong messages to send out at a time like this. It's understandable that a person doesn't like being criticized and wants to make themselves look better than they are. Lincoln in his private correspondence wallowed in self-pity but in public he projected calm confidence. FDR would occasionally peddle false hope but he also made sure the country understood the seriousness of the situation they were in. Trump defenders and apologists are not helping Trump and they certainly aren't helping the country. I will keep on saying this, responsibility is necessary to leadership and Trump is averse to responsibility. That his defenders continue to feed that aversion (it's always someone else's fault) isn't helping him or us. I want to see Trump lead effectively but if he isn't he needs to get out of the way. That is also leadership.
We were all warned about continuing beef across threads. You might want to stick to one thread there buddy.
Shut down the damn thousands of passenger flights across this country before we spread it from NYC and California faster than Westbrook in a fast break. Don't be stupid like the Europeans were in waiting until it was too late to spread it rapidly from Italy to all the other neighboring countries As some of the NBA players who have tested positive gave stated, they don't even show signs or feel bad. Why risk thousands of positive carriers with no symptoms infecting thousands more?
You can shut down the flights all you want but it's already in all 50 states. It's not coming from New York to your town, it's in your town and has been for weeks if not months. People need to stay ****ing home unless it's an absolute necessity. Every city and state should be sheleter in place except for food, emergency, etc. Should have done this 2 weeks ago like many were advising. You should do this too even if it's not mandatory, we have been acting this way for at least 10 days or so now.
This should be enough to disqualify Trump for a reelection bid -- just 2 days before the Corona virus crisis a national emergency, he was calling it a hoax for everybody to hear. With epidemiologists and other health experts to help, Trump had a two-month start to prepare the nation for a possible disaster. He did worse than nothing.
