Covid is NOT VERY similar to the flu. That is the problem with people taking this seriously. It is MORE contagious and FAR MORE deadly. It's not even the same family of viruses. The flu hits your upper respiratory tract but Covid hits your lower and does far more tissue damage. Even people who recover may be permanently affected.

You have got to get what Trump said early on our of your head. It was false.

It should be taken seriously. But there are still plenty of similarities, one of which you attempted to mislead thru the context of your initial post I responded to. You continued to dodge the correlation for multiple posts but finally figured it out.

Covid is a Super-flu. They both can cause death and can have long term effects.

No no no. It is not a super-flu. They are very different viruses that have different impacts on your body. This is such a false and dangerous comparison you are trying to make.

It's like calling any respiratory sickness a type of flu.

No. I mean a travel ban preventing anyone to travel in and out of Texas. Considering our size, it would be similar to countries like Italy or Spain shutting their borders. Why wait until you have 1000 cases?

Spain went1,695 to 11,000 cases in a week, and in one more day they went to almost 14,000 cases. Even smaller and far less populated countries like Finland went from 40 to 322 cases last week. In another week they could have over 1,000, and a week later 6,000. The same could happen in Texas.

If said respiratory sickness is caught the same way as the flu (touching surfaces, inhaling contaminated air, sneezes and coughs), has plenty of the same effects (fever, coughing, sneezing, body aches, diarrhea, etc) but causes more damage, it probably could be classified a Super-flu.

You're too worried about being against what Trump said. You don't like him (I don't necessarily do), so your mentality is f*** anything/everything he says. Stop thinking so black-white. This goes for anyone on either side of any subject. The world is mostly gray.

Massive testing and staying ahead of this pandemic would get him re-elected. It would have eased one of my main concern about him from day 1 - he is completely incompetent for the job. But he doesn't understand anything and he massively underestimated the impact of this.... if he knew that testing was such key, that it could have prevented massive closures throughout the nation causing the market to drop like a rock, he would have pushed hard for testing. He would have gone big like no one other nations have. But he's doesn't get it. He doesn't understand. The virus is here not because of him. We are in such a mess now because of him and the people around him. We will get out of this mess because our other leaders, local and national leaders, not because of him. I would feel so much better if he would just step aside.

This post is extremely eye rolling.
So EVERY respiratory virus is flu like now?
All respiratory viruses are transmitted with (touching, inhaling sneezing, coughing) and have "plenty of the same" effects.
Because they are freaking respiratory viruses!

What a buch of utter bullshit!
Maybe we should change science now and create a new family "flu like"viruses!

Roll your eyes at yourself. You took the portion of my stipulations that helped your argument while ignoring all portions that didn't help. GTFO with that selective crap.

There's no selection. What you are posting is utter bullshit. I dont care about your politics or if Trump said this and that.

To put all the respiratory viruses in the "flu like" basket like YOU did is simpy ludicrous.

Only someone like a 70 year old uneducated grandma who hardly finished high school, would say something like that.

Stop the misinformation and bullcrap! I will not sit here and watch people saying completely lies.

    Science is crystal clear.
The Influenza is a different virus and isn't even in the same family of viruses.

I don't see what taking this virus seriously has anything to do with Trump. I think you are trying to invent something in people's minds to defend some kind of narrative you have created, and then put that onto other people.

I think Trump is a disaster and have 0 respect for him. He's an awful leader and an awful person. But that has nothing to do with the seriousness of this virus.

Trying to minimize this is putting yourself and others at risk. 2% mortality rate. Think about that. And it is MORE contagious than the flu.

Look, every disease is spread through bodily fluids, respiration, or surfaces. That's it! So saying it's the same as the flu is ridiculous. Why not say strep throat is the same as the flu then too???

    You argument is just baffling.

If you care about being so informative, why didn't you answer the question I posed yesterday directly to you on this same subject?

I really didn't mean the portion regarding Trump, I was speaking on everything in the first paragraph. Not all respiratory infections are caught the same way I mentioned, nor do they have all the same effects I mentioned. You know that, yet you chose to only respond to what helped your argument. *That* is the behavior of an 8 year old. GTFO with that selective crap.

You're not even arguing against something I said

I've never called covid the 'flu'.

What Trump has to do with virus is obvious. He handled the situation poorly (you know that), and the nation is experiencing extra suffering due to it. You play possum very often. You already did it with the 'breath' thing acting like flu can't be caught similarly as covid.

    You mean this ?
    Because I have NO idea.
How can I inform you about something I don't know? It's better not to say anything than spreading falsehoods and misinformation.

I may not be a virologist that is up to date with the UV resistance of the new virus but I at least have enough basic knowledge to know that not all respiratory viruses are "flu" like.

What you have been saying is not only false, unscientific but also DANGEROUS.

WE are in a constant battle against idiots who think a freaking pandemic is nothing and go out and have parties.
It is false bullcrap like this is "flu like" that can straight lead to the DEATH OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE

    So kindly STFU.
    Thank you.

Gotcha. Not sure how you would enforce that as it's not like borders between countries with specific entry points.

Then the response should have been, "I dont know".

As much as you choose to fight it, covid is flu-like due to the similarities. Does that mean they are the exact same? Nope.

    I haven't said anything false.

Your level of passion on this subject has nothing to do with me, so stop projecting your childish emotions on me.
