Prepare for a second China spike and all the problems that come with it -- coronavirus winter has arrived.
The latest news yesterday was that all 16 cabin hospitals -- which were used to treat mild cases -- have been shut down. President Xi visited one of the two emergency specialty field hospitals built in Wuhan for treating severe and critical cases during the outbreak.
How is it Mass. has 92 cases with zero deaths, when Florida already has two deaths from only 20 cases?! Different response & health care system, or just the greater number of lunatics running around florida?
That’s easy. Different demographic. In other words, an older population. All those retired people who are more at risk. Massachusetts also has a different healthcare system, and if I’m remembering correctly, it insures that everyone is covered, regardless of their income. Vastly different than what we have in Texas, and probably different than that of Florida.
also depends on when a sick individual finally decides to go to the doctor. If your lungs are ****ed before you get to the hospital, FLA or MA prolly doesnt make a difference
Flyers warned after woman returning to Houston from Italy has coronavirus https://www.chron.com/news/houston-...rus-case-confirmed-in-Montgomery-15121047.php This is the type of information I was hoping for with these cases. I understand privacy concerns but believe this information is helpful for those wanting to exercise precaution. For a lot of the other cases, we’re not even giving people the chance.
Here are some opinions from German experts. Excerpts: ... “We in Germany were simply at the forefront in terms of diagnostics,” ... Drosten said Germany's dense network of independent labs received both the technical information needed to conduct tests and the approval to bill for them in January, when case numbers in Germany were still in the single digits. “These effects combined, I'm very certain of this, gave us an extreme advantage in recognizing the epidemic in Germany," Drosten told reporters in Berlin. Unlike in other countries, where national laboratories had a monopoly on testing, Germany's distributed system helped doctors to swiftly determine whether suspected cases actually involved the new virus or a common cold, which can have similar symptoms. “Other countries lost a month or even more time because of this,” Drosten said. ... The low number of complications relative to the number of cases reported so far was partly due to the types of people being diagnosed, he said, contrasting the situation in Germany with that in nearby Italy, which has reported 463 deaths and 9,172 cases. “It's a fact that the age structure of those who have died in Italy is around 80,” said Wieler. “Many of the young people who are also infected simply haven't been recognized.” ... In Germany, the median age of those diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease the virus causes, is about 40, he said. “We identified people early on with our testing who are infected, but not seriously ill.” ... Authorities across Germany opened additional testing sites Monday. In Berlin, almost 100 people lined up outside one of four new sites waiting for it to open. The town of Esslingen set up a drive-in testing site where patients referred by a general practitioner can have samples taken while sitting in their cars. ... In recent days, authorities have stepped up quarantines, closed numerous schools and urged soccer clubs to play matches without spectators. On Monday, the German parliament announced that visitors won't be allowed to access the glass dome of the Reichstag building anymore.

Spoiler Better health care for sure. But interesting thing. The first corona virus cases revolved around a company in Bavaria that had China affiliations and their co-workers got infected. So now you have Bavaria and the South, the West with Nordrhein-Westfalen (People came back from Carnival in Italy). And Berlin area. Fewer cases in the former DDR areas. So it's divided equally. And arguably the milder strain had hit the most. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...infected-coronavirus-Angela-Merkel-warns.html Merkel with the Doomsday scenario. Germans are more scared than Italians who walked around even when the first cases hit the country.
