Things couldn't be more clear. Germany is 8 days behind Italy.
As of today they have 1458 cases and 2 deaths.

Explain what you mean by "things couldn't be more clear" because I don't know what your point is?

I have wondered about this because anecdotally the spread seems to be worse in colder places.

Germany is behind Italy by 8 days is my point. Along with many other countries.
What is going on there with the explosion of severe and critical cases will happen in 1 week in Germany and others.
Unless severe measures are taken that can delay the outbreak. Just closing down the schools while the students fill the streets and coffee shops celebrating their new holidays isnt enough.

And only 2 deaths. Italy at 2 March had 52 deaths.
Such a big difference is difficult to explain. Better healthcare? German elderly listened to advice and isolated? Not so many families live with their grandpas? or significant more testing by Germany compared to Italy which detected more cases ?
we will see how that goes in the next days. Both the deaths happened today.

May their souls rest in peace.

I am here talking about deaths in numbers and statistics when every death and number is a person with their history, famiy and loved ones. ...

Get ready for a shut down of the northeast. Trump needs to quit wearing delusional rose colored glasses and act immediately to recommend shut down of all schools, universities, public events, sports events, religious events, everything involving large groups of people for the rest of March. He doesn't get that this action would be appreciated IMO and he needs to quit bullshitting like this will pass like a rainstorm.

Oh and ****ing Delta just today stopped the Rome to JFK route....

It looks like there won't be a universal american policy. One state can take good measures and the next state do nothing and leave it uncontained.

Is it then possible for a governor to close down the state borders to prevent flowbacks?
Otherwise without a panamerican common policy there is no way the containment can be effective.

Don't know about Japan, but saw this article today on Taiwan only having 47 cases. Among other things they've kept their number low by recognizing the problem back to New Year's Eve when they started screening people coming from Wuhan, eventually shutting down travel from/to effected regions, educating their citizens and encouraging their citizens if sick to see a doctor (universal healthcare).

It seems like China is getting things under control. Only 19 new cases today. They have also shut down 11 of the 13 temp hospitals they built. Another good sign that the contagion is getting contained. Finally the Chinese pres is visiting Wuhan.
