My wife and I took our kids to LA for spring break. We went to Universal Studios yesterday and Disneyland today. Both were packed. There were some masks and gloves were worn but otherwise it looked like business as usual. If we are on the eve of a recession...I haven’t seen in Los Angeles.
Yes, read some more concerning reports about the situation there. I'm reconsidering future travel now.
I mean, saying "it's just flu" is really downplaying the flu. This is a disease that we have prevention and treatment for yet is estimated to kill 20-50k people this flu season. And like COVID I believe, the majority of deaths are 65+.
I got into a spat with my wife this morning. She has the ability to work from home but prefers to go to the office (one hour away drive). Feel like work is before family for her. Am I being unreasonable here? If she has the option to work from home at a time like this, then why not?
She ****ing around. J/K but on a serious not, she's got another reason other than work for driving an hour in.
Maybe she likes getting some face time with the higher ups and it "looks better". I don't think work is something that will stop for majority anytime soon. Rather, "if you're sick stay home" should be what happens.
She says the higher ups are reporting so she feels like she has to but with everything going on around us can they blame her for remoting in?
Has she talked to you about the culture at her job? It could be about the "tough minded" culture that makes her feel uncomfortable displaying any sort of concern for her family.
Eh, when you look at the data objectively, the fatality rate of reliable sample populations is below 1%. It's rarely fatal for anyone younger than 60. But then you hear of anecdotal fear mongering from supposed front line healthcare workers and it scares you again.
I am sure the italian doctors have nothing better to do than fear mongering to panic the american people. Probably Putin put them up to it, right.
For those that are under the age of 60 that are blowing this off, remember some of us have living parents who are older than 60. Maybe you don't care if you get it but remember while you have it you could easily spread it around to others before you even discover you have it. I reduced the amount of contact I have just so I don't somehow accidentally get it and bring it back to my parents or in laws. Well maybe I should visit the in-laws more often but kidding aside, better safe than sorry until this blows over.
