Above is a link of Harden working on some post moves with the great Hakeem Olajuwon several years back. harden is almost 31 and seems a little sluggish and slow footed lately. Not sure if it’s age, injuries, fatigue or just match ups. Kobe developed a post game as his career was sunsetting and was able to extend his career and still play at a high level. Our team at times can not solely rely on the 3 and need a dependable 2 or something that helps out with spacing (remember all the wide open 3s Mario elie or Kenny smith would get via kick outs from the post). imagine teams either having to choose to double harden in the post which would open up wide open threes or let harden school them in the post.
You really want him to be drained for the playoffs huh.... Plus all he gonna do is shoot a step back from 18ft... That's a midrange shot!.. That's not efficient to Morey n dem..
When you think about it technically it becomes difficult strategically because Harden is left handed. Harden would have to take a turn around shot from the left side which plays into the defenders hand, assuming most defenders are indeed right-handed!
You are right as it is not as common but some great post players were left handed. David Robinson, Willis Reed, Dave Cowens just to name a few. what was great about Kobe was he can beat you in so many ways. He can bury the 3, drive and nail the mid range, drive for dunks/layups but especially later in his career, post a player up in the post. Would love to see harden do this. Imagine the “beard shake”
