Are you talking to me or they guy who made the elitist snobby comment? Because I pretty much said the exact same thing you did. Maybe you should go do that first?
I did, and I’m talking to you. What exactly are you saying you agree with that I said? I read your comment as if Americans are educated to wash their hands and that poster you are calling a non American is ignorant because Americans don’t wash their hands. Guess what? Most don’t wash their hands!
I am not choosing a political party here, I think they all do good/poor in certain aspects (it's kind of a pick your best parts you want) which is great, I mean at least we're given the choice here with our vote. I also never said I was abandoning America, I mean I'm thankful all the time for what I've been given here (as I know most of us are). I Sometimes regret the extra time I've taken to finish Neuro at UT Austin, I mean some people in the world will never have that chance to even be given an opportunity to go to a higher education program.
Guess what? Go read it again. The other guy was bashing the "American education system" by saying we aren't smart enough to comply with basic hand washing skills. I was saying that it isn't an American thing, its a universal thing. Just because he saw someone in the bathroom not washing his hands correctly doesn't give him the right to say its because of the "American education system"
But it is an issue with the American education system, just as much as it is with.. Every. Single. Education. System. on this planet. I am by no means trying to create an argument but basic hygiene sucks everywhere to some degree or another. You can’t trust anything you touch in public without worrying if you’re going to get sick or not. Regardless what city/country you live in. Believe me, I’m as much American as anyone on this board, but I’m not an arrogant American where I think we are all that is holy.
On a side note, I didn't mean to get anyone upset. I know time beats us all, but the stats we've slowly seen circulating are a reality check especially for those of us with family members/friends (hell even some of us) that are older and/or have health issues (pretty much everyone posting/reading fits somewhere) and while we all know the flu is dangerous I just feel this will be more serious because of the unknowns and because it's something on top of the flu. And hey if I'm wrong, great, I'd rather be wrong (this isn't the typical Rockets kind of thread where someone's all doom and gloom and then gets to say "told you so"). And again I don't think this is the apocalypse, I'm just a bit more concerned than the typical stats we've seen. I just don't want it to be a situation where those that need help can't get it.
I haven't watched Trump's visit to the CDC but I am watching the Coronavirus task force presser and it sounds promising. I prefer to go directly to the full press conference rather than rely on sound bites. I've heard some very misleading sound bites so far and they don't help anything. Also, I generally play them on 1.5x speed to get thru them faster. I think that's a decent spot to start listening to Pence State labs can do their own testing now Between March 2-5 distributed more than 900,000 tests across the country. Including 200,000 tests that would allow more than 75,000 individual patients to be tests. (If someone could clarify that statement for me that would be good because it is confusing...I listened to more and Stephen Hahn from the FDA said something to the effect of 1 test doesn't necessarily mean 1 patient and they would hold another press conference tomorrow more in depth) They expect another 200,000 test to be shipped tomorrow and after the weekend another 1 million tests will be shipped around the country By the end of next week they expect to have 4 million tests shipped They are working with LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics to develop testing and expect those labs to have a test available by Monday Continues to reiterate the risk is low, but if you are at risk or elderly then you need to take precautions especially with travel and cruises Anthony Fauci gets on and begins by reiterating the risk to elderly and people with pre-existing conditions like heart and lung issues. He talks about social distancing as being key to minimizing risk and use social distancing if you plan to travel or be around large groups of people to help prevent this infection and other infections. He also points out that family members of people in those groups need to take care to minimize risk as well.
Each confirmed case requires at least two tests. If you are person of interest (known close contact with a confirmed case) then you should kept in quarantine even with 2 negative, after observation of symptoms get tested again. Here for example we confirmed the husband of a confirmed case after 4 tests - while he was in strict home isolation. He only tested positive after 3 days his wife was in hospital quarantine. In China one woman took 8 to be confirmed. But that is very extreme.
You eager to get reported? Given a timeout? Even booted? The reason D&D was created by @Clutch was to keep your sort of politic crap, or anyone else’s, out of Hangout and elsewhere at ClutchFans. If you can’t control your “political mouth” here, you shouldn’t be here. That’s not even taking into account that what you posted has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. Nothing at all. Zero, which makes you look even more stupid. So either post it in D&D and look stupid there, which is better than looking stupid here and breaking the rules, or don’t post political crap at all. We all thank you in advance.
Happy to engage in further discussion on this over in D&D. I’ve stopped posting on that angle in this forum after realizing that political perspectives are not appropriate in the Hangout.
Israel should be added in the countries on the red list. Literally every single person who has come back here from Jerusalem has been found positive. Many doctors included. How stupid you have to be to go on holidays in the middle of a pandemic.
I hope this is proved an overestimation otherwise it is horrifying. 5% mortality for those aged 60 and 10% for those 70? So as deadly as SARS. I worry very much about my parents. I have tried to make them stay home but they dont' listen.
I agree. I’d also consider Egypt at this point given the cluster in the Houston area. Perhaps they’re waiting for clear evidence of community spread in foreign countries, or maybe Israel already has clear cases of community spread.
It is horrifying if true. I’m hoping that there are many more, including elderly, who have the virus but haven’t been reflected in the overall cases, which could substantially reduce the fatality rate. It’s really just hope though at this point because we just don’t know. Here’s the CDC’s advice for the elderly in the US (stay home as much as possible and those around them should limit their risks of exposure): https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/specific-groups/high-risk-complications.html
Yes Egypt too. Especially those Nile cruises. It is common here to combine a trip to Jerusalem with Egypt. To give you the extent : more than 90% of the greek confirmed cases so far come from Egypt and Israel. And they have visited in the last 10 days. If it wasn't for one man falling critically ill so far there would be 3 hospitals who would be infected from top to bottom staff to all patients. Now they have been quarantined. So much for the virus disappearing with good weather.
