We don't know for sure what the death rate is and as much as I hate to say it Trump might be right. As noted earlier the death rate is heavily skewed from the early days of the infection in Hubei when they didn't know what they were dealing with and hiding information. Outside of Hubei it has been lower. At the moment in the US we've barely scratched the surface on how many infections there might actually be and until we know that we aren't going to know what the mortality rate is.
