Check the date of his statements. March of 2016. Obama was less than a year away from being out of office because of term limits...a lame duck President by that point with ZERO political risk to himself (unlike what you claimed above).

Well I guess we both are incorrect as you also said that Obama never praised Cuban social programs.

My broader point here that really isn't directed at you is the blatant hypocrisy of Joe Biden here.

I respect your opinion. My parents grew up during the Depression, went through WWII. Although my father graduated at the top of his high school class, he had no hope of going to college until the war broke out. After serving in the Navy and marrying my mother, not in that order, he was able to go to college in Houston on the GI Bill. They bought the house I grew up in thanks to the GI BIll. A government program that helped educate and house literally tens of millions of Americans. The neighborhood I grew up in was largely made up of working class people, many union members. I know something about the working class.

It's interesting how little money and organization mattered today. Biden won in places he didn't campaign in or advertise. For anyone worried about people buying their way into the nomination, Biden is blowing that whole idea up.

He was never known to be smoothest of politicians. He is hardcore issues guy - that seems to be his appeal. I doubt if he would even soften any of his positions if he does win primary to draw-in moderates. So I doubt that it swung the election away from him. But I won't say it is impossible.

I'll be on lookout for more hot takes for now. The chart below seems to indicate that a big chunk of us would forego our personal issues in favor of getting rid of Trump. Biden wins in that category simply by the fact that he is closer to the middle. Sander's only prominent coalition on the stump seems to be AOC whereas Biden was lucky to have O'rourke, Buttigieg, Klobuchar. I think the latter fact takes much higher priority than the Castro comment (although I'm sure it had some effect). It's interesting that no one endorsed the other moderate, Bloomberg. I guess he promised to pump anti-Trump ads regardless; and politicians don't like an upstart so he got no big endorsements and lost momentum. Too bad. I hope Biden keeps his wits for the next 8 months (and picks a good VP).

Blah, blah, blah, spare me. Young people don't vote and old, at the end of their lives, folks do. That's the only reason Biden won the states he has. Not because he's a great candidate. The largest population block hates Biden but loves Bernie but they don't vote at all. Young people suck.

Well name recognition, being Obama's vice president, having the backing of the party leaders along with CNN and MSNBC disproportionately attacking Bernie definitely requires less money from him to get votes.

I notice none of that included "Bernie running a poor campaign and failing to attract voters." Continue blaming everyone else...

Well, actually what I said is articles have been written that dispute the word "praised". My personal feeling is that Obama also should have been more careful in his statements when addressing the Castro regime. But that's in the past and is irrelevant at this point.

I would say that graphic doesn't portend well for Bernie voters showing up for Joe in November if he ends up the nominee. But, we got a LONG way till then...

I for one am glad that Bernie is getting shredded. The cult mentality that Bernie's supporters have remind me of Trump's. There was a guy knocking on doors in my complex this week telling people if they voted for Biden they'd be voting for the devil. Its fkin annoying.

My family voted in the democratic primary and all of them have said won't vote Biden if nominated.

I won't unless he has kloubachar, Warren. or bernie as vp. I'm tired of old wasp candidates, need more diversity to excite me and i want a women to get close and eventually in the White House. Otherwise, I'll take a hard pass.

Why don't I ever get these type of amazing anecdotes?
And I'm here in leftist Amherst Mass. I want a crazy Bernie Bro experience.

Please don't tell me that my comment here was offensive and "Trump supporter like".

This pretty much. The dude cares more about being a "democrat" than fighting climate change, and that's just a fact.

I mean the other option is Trump. Biden might not inspire but I don't think he's a narcissistic egocmaniac who will threaten our system of checks and balances.
