look at this... the voters made a calculated decision. They were MORE concerned about beating trump than about their issues. Logically that make much sense. The “establishment” today are the voters that decided to not take a high risk at another 4 years of trump.
When you use the word "establishment" it fosters a gang like culture of Bros that attack you on Twitter.
Any Democrat who does not endorse the candidate running against Trump.... That Democrat is a ****ing *******.
5.6.7.8.9.10 - really just one moderate choice left. If not for the early voting, this might have ended tonight.
I don't think you understand the use of the term establishment. It is not in reference to voters, it is in reference to existing power structures and monied interests that have a material interest in preserving the status quo.
I'm not drinking kool-aid mr.shorerider. I'm a big Bernie supporter and gigantic fan of social democracy. Bernie's campaign is done. The only way Bernie wins at this point is if Biden suddenly dies. Biden is winning 10 states tonight, including Texas. Bernie is only winning 4, and he's only at 28% in California right now with both Bloomberg and Biden hitting viability. Utah 4 candidates hit viability, Colorado 4 candidates hit viability. Tonight, sadly was a disaster for Bernie, he will never become president, it's over. While Bernie is done, his movement is not, this country needs to make a gigantic effort to combat climate change, it needs M4A, it needs universal childcare, it needs to forgive student loans, medical debt, it needs paid leave for sickness/maternity/vacation, it needs stringent environmental protection laws. It's just going to take a lot longer to get that change without Bernie being president.
Doesn't necessarily prove that electability was the major factor in how people voted but it's a good indication that it played a role in Biden doing well. Thanks for the graph/table
This is an abomination. Republicans are doing everything they can think of to stay in power. Wait until 2020. The lines will be insane. We will be early voting, for sure, even though the time for early voting is limited. The GOP should be spelled c-o-r-r-u-p-t-i-o-n. Joe Biden is now in the lead in Texas by over 23,000 votes.
Lets be honest here. Bernie is a self described socialist and has a long history of supporting Castro. This wasn't anything new. The intellectual dishonesty of talking up "literacy programs" as making Castro some sort of complicated leader who's regime needs to be "revisited" isn't gonna work for a country that has plenty of people living who remember nuclear missiles being pointed at them by him. It's literally a revamp of the old joke about Mussolini making the trains run on time.
I'm really worried about voter purging and very little polling locations swinging the election in key states. If there is one good takeaway from Biden's resurgence, it is that suburban voters came out today for him. And they, disproportionately, will have their voter id's and make sure their registration is up to date. I just hope the bleeding isn't so bad come November we get screwed into another Trump presidency,
It really isn't a joke how a small country that had little access to global markets and had no ability to have economic growth somehow still able to have its citizens have health metric even better than the United States including infant mortality rates and life expectancy. Those aren't trivial. Look, I understand that debating this in a non binary "good vs evil" paradigm with you is going to be impossible so I'll probably not going to waste anymore time with this matter with you here in this thread.
Ya and this country was an authoritarian country that housed slaves and treated blacks like dirt for more than half its history. Most recently, we killed about half a million innocent civilians in Iraq over a bogus excuse to control more oil. People want to act like the US is some kind of bastion of moral authority, we're not. Just because the decisions we make are a result of a flawed democratic process does not justify the outcomes. There is also a ton of good in the US, and more than its fair share of bad. Bernie's point is very simple, is that we have to be honest when we look at the history of any country including our own country, as well as authoritarian countries like Cuba. Politically, he needs to find a way to shut down this conversation cuz i agree, it's not a discussion worth having and no American really wants or cares to have it. In that respect I agree.
Oh, I'm sorry. I thought this was a thread about politics and Super Tuesday. Maybe Bernie can move on from this tomorrow by complimenting Stalin on the gulag's furnishings.
This is why your side loses. I'm having a political discussion about what moves and doesn't move voters and you're getting all up in your feelings about moral equivalency. Exactly. Everything else above is irrelevant to the conversation in this topic.
