It just take a crisis in your backyard (of course, there’s also the underinsured and the super high ded insured)
In fairness to them, Coronavirus is an emergency! They might lose their jobs. Other health problems in this country are only an emergency for you, because, you know, f-k you.
we are gonna be able to contain this like the rockets were able to contain the boards last night .... in other words , everyone already has it ... bum dum dum
Everybody has it, it is spreading way faster than the official figures. Everybody knows it. Trump doesn't want to hear it and his networks are bombing disinformation. Lots of people may die as a result.
I think lots of people might die regardless . there was a lot we found out after the fact about transmission , how long incubation is etc ... The fact that it seemed to be in Europe and Italy for a couple of weeks , but now **** is just starting to heat up in terms of people getting sick . sure , our government’s response could probably be better , I’m not following that closely . I’m still more worried about any panic that comes from this vs the actual virus ... then again I’m 28 and in good health .. If I was older , lived in Houston still , or had a compromised immune system then I might be a bit more pissed (given that There’s a higher likelihood of it affecting me directly) I am a bit worried about my parents and some of my older aunts and uncles , but we will just have to see how significant the spread is and what the mortality rate really is once we get more data . 3% is pretty ****ing bad , but so far it looks like this thing effects people very differently depending on a number of factors . you never wanna hit the panic button early and the internet was freaking out about this before Trump even made a move . it’s hard to find the right middle ground between blowing it off and instigating panic mode . people are ignorant about disease , I don’t believe the corona - coronavirus thing ... but I don’t think people (in general , in mass) are that much smarter lol . people panic buying sanitizer (which might not do much) , face masks , supplies and water , and having a cough and wanting to rush to the clinic to get tested aren’t good things IMO . And we’ve already seen some of that despite the muted official tone .
You don't need to be in panic mode, but the CDC (which stands for "Center for Disease Control") should be in panic mode. They should have been in panic mode. And that panic mode should not be from President Sharpie who is too stupid to know what a vaccine is rage tweeting you .
Losers' rule: If it is truth, it must be CCP propaganda: https://www.vox.com/2020/3/3/21163020/coronavirus-new-york-washington-california-florida Reported cases, reported deaths, and recovered cases [as of March 3, 4:27 pm]: Washington state: 27 cases 9 deaths California: 22 cases Illinois: 4 cases Oregon: 3 cases
Containment has already failed and we’re already in a pandemic. That said as we’re learning more the mortality rate from this might not be as bad as thought. Mortality rates are skewed from the early days of the epidemic when officials in Hubei didn’t know what they were dealing with or hiding knowledge about it. In NPR they were saying that the latest reports from the PRC is that outside of Hubei the mortality rate is about .7%. That’s not great but not the numbers of the 1918 flu and well below SARS and MERS. It’s possible with better testing we'll find many more infected who are not dying which will reduce the mortality rate even more. We need to take this seriously but the focus should be in protecting the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. There is no reason why young otherwise healthy people should be panicking and hoarding supplies.
