He does a great job. I'm enjoying the new season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Always got John Oliver for some funnies on Sunday Night and I recently discovered Hulu has King of the Hill so that's been fun when I've got some tv time or in the background while I'm working on something else hobby wise.

Yes, guys, Trump isn’t playing by the same rules as Biden. His base’s tolerance is clearly otherworldly. When he hits Joe for being senile, corrupt, it’s gonna hurt Joe, because Trump is a killer comedian and roaster, the same attacks on Trump just roll off him.

Where Trump needs to be hit that will actually hurt, is his complete failure to enact any of his populist promises from 2016, and Biden’s going to have a hard time doing since he has a non populist record.

The media will not call Biden a socialist no matter how many times Trump tries that one out. That actually does matter.

Trump has already unloaded the greatest hits on Biden for months now. It'll be hitting him on his age/fitness for office, and corruption/nepotism. Which those two come with a "ugh... okay Mr. Covfefe & sure... lets talk about those Chinese patents for Ivanka".

Trump's attacks can roll off of Biden. The biggest thing will be how Biden reacts to the inevitable subpoena to testify in the infamous "HUNTER BIDEN" case that got Trump impeached. If Biden is subpoenaed by Lindsay Graham in the judiciary (where it would most likely be), how would he hold up in a testimony. He "could" crush the Republicans, and that attempt could backfire. He could also say some dumb stuff that ends up helping Trump.

Either way, I think this is the biggest wild card that we MUST assume the Republicans/Trump will play this Summer/Fall to try and hurt Biden. I 100% believe they'll weaponize every legal power they can (and some possibly illegal) to hurt Biden.

Still, I think Biden has the better ability to have everything Trump throws at him roll off unlike Sanders who seems to be mostly an unknown in a head to head grunge match with Trump. And the "Socialist" tag really doesn't help him with suburban voters who helped win 2018.

The most important thing for either candidate will be -

    -On-the-Ground grassroots support
    -Data mgmt and smart organizing/campaigning
    -Media gamesmanship (control the narrative)

The 2nd is so incredibly important. You must be able to control the narrative and get the media to report the horserace in the way that doesn't allow Trump to suck all the oxygen out of the room.

Bernie has wore the term so proudly that I wonder if it will have the effect that people think it will have.

I also don't think the term has as much weight that it used to anymore. More and more Americans just aren't scared of it, we can blame the GOP for calling everyone left of center a socialist for that.

Its stupid. I don't know why he did that. I think in his head he thought the right wing co-opted the term socialism for any sort of increase in government spending and he embraced it. I don't know how he got to that conclusion to embrace it but it's dumb.

Cmon man, we have a lot of data revealing that future generations are closer to Sanders politically than Biden.

Stranger things can happen. Most people wrote Biden off less than two weeks ago. So I am far from writing Sanders off.

Sanders supporters would understandably be upset, but in general their mindset should be positive. They have more influence in national politics now than in generations and I suspect their influence and power within the democratic party will continue to grow. There is a good chance in 2024 or 2028 a follower of Sanders wins the democratic nomination.

I think Sanders is just sincere and principled. He's not going to back down from a stance because others may think it is politically helpful for him. Since I posted the GOT clip, he's the Neddard Stark of politicians. He'll be willing to fall on his sword to keep his honesty in tact.

Of course things like proudly claiming socialism and praising Che Guevara may not help him...but it is also oddly part of his charm.

People that vote Trump will always say "He just tells it how it is," and so people like that kind of honesty. I think Sanders claiming socialism will stand better next to other candidates that claim they are against socialism yet policy wise are for very socialist ideas, then it just seems dishonest and sneaky. I think for Sanders too, he's anti-establishment and for a lot of his supporters he's basically framed the anti-socialism rhetoric as something the establishment is pushing. That could work for him.

Great article and sums up exactly what I think and its why I am not quite so bullish on Sanders winning against trump, he is not reaching out.

I think being a "socialist" could work if we were about 10 years into the future...hell, maybe even 4. But, right now, there are still too many Baby Boomers alive that think of the word with negative connotations. Until they move on, I'm not sure Bernie will be able to overcome that.

Doesn't mean he won't...Trump's unlikability is high enough to where enough people might just want him gone, especially if the economy tanks in the next few months. We'll have to see...very interesting time in American politics.

Not saying young people are not the future just don't believe Bernie followers are the exact example of all young voters.

And definitely don't think the establishment are fighting them.

Also if you look at the demographics of SC Biden was neck and neck with Sanders for very liberal voters.

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/29/politics/south-carolina-exit-polls/index.html

The former vice president, though, also won over voters who consider themselves very liberal, with around 2 in 5 of the group, surpassing Sanders with 3 in 10. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren followed Sanders with around 1 in 7 very liberal voters.

As people get older their politics and priorities sometimes change.

Actual studies and data prove that it's really not that often, at least not enough for it to make a difference.

    https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-ta...ow-age-affects-attitudes-and-voting-behavior/

What changes is the world. As I said before, Millenials and Zoomers will be fighting for Healthcare and Environmental rights while their grandchildren may be fighting for robot rights, who knows.

But there isn't evidence that people become more conservative as they age. If that was the case, left-wing politics would NEVER gain ground anywhere in the world.
