It seems like a no brainer that this team has the potential to win it all. Would it be smart to call in Dantoni and his agent and give him an extension right now to add extra confidence to the players that Rockets are committed to him?
no...do something in the playoffs and then we can talk about an extension gotta at least make the WCF and be very competitive or lose to the Clippers/Lakers in a very tough 7 game series
Yes, it sends a message that the organization is committed to winning. Conversely, it takes two for a handshake. I'm sure MDA has a figure in mind and he doesn't want to undervalue his worth.
Tucker, yes. Let D'Antoni win a championship and then throw the bank at him. In case anyone is confused, that's a no.
I have a feeling that D'antoni is retiring at the end of the season, short of us winning a championship
give the man a 2 yr ext. everything is gelling well right now. who really wants to start over with a new system right now? harden and wb are not getting younger.
both of these guys need to be part of the duration of harden's window in houston. PJ especially deserved a year or two extension guarantee a long time ago. As far as MDA, nothing says he should be potentially not a coach here in a few months.......Lets get Tyrone Lue!
I have turned a corner in giving him a lot of credit and liking his approach lately, but would still say no. The tendency to go 7-8 players deep is still evident and he has yet to show he can adjust better than an opposing coach in the playoffs. If we don’t make the WCF with his influence clearly a reason I’d say bye bye. If we for example face a big team or LAC who can match our small ball and small ball is not working and he sticks to his guns in a stubborn way, no way he should be back. Also another 0-27 like moment cannot happen. I also don’t want to see a jittery Harden turn it over, last second passes and hogging the ball in a game 5-7 in the 4th. Harden making 2-4 out of 15-20 from 3, pull him. Draw up some plays, call timeouts. If he lets that happen, bye Mike. Right now I’d love to say yes, but the fear of stubborn Mike is still there.
Hell yes. Quit treating this man like he's some kind of scrub. Tilman's lucky to have a coach of this caliber.
This begs the age-old question: Is D'Antoni successful because of personnel or is the team successful because of D'Antoni's system? If yes on the first part but no on the second part, then no we should not extend him. If yes on both parts or no on the first part and yes on the second part, then yes we should extend him.
No, Not Right Now! First Round exit - No Second round exit - No Conference Finals - 1 year extension NBA Finals - 2 year extensions Championship - 4 year extensions
At this point if you are Mike do you really want an extension right now ? He had a number before that Tilman wasn’t eager to match and wanted him to prove it, if he gets deep in the playoffs or amazingly wins a Ship’ Mike will have ALL the leverage in the world ... I’m thinking unless Tilman went stupid on him (and we know he won’t) if I’m Mike I sit tight and hope I get deep into the playoffs ... I know that leaves a certain level of uncertainty, but hell even if he would only get to say the second round he will have a lot of leverage elsewhere if he wants to continue coaching Just realized I didn’t answer the question... I say no more from Mikes perspective than anyone’s else’s.
