Prefer Tyler Johnson over Troy Daniel's. Better defender, better rebounder, better rim protector, better passer and can put ball on floor and get to rim in addition to 3ball.
Not sure if free agents qualify. Jack Cooley from Notre Dame back in the day. Ian Clark, Festus Ezeli, and Leandro Barbosa deserve a decent shake of things. Not sure if this strategy has been successful for juggernauts like golden state?! Has rest been apart of successful small ball strategies in the past? Did Mike Dantoni rest players like Shawn Marion, Tim Thomas, jason Richardson, Raja Bell, Barbosa?!?!
Well DeMarre has played in 3 games with Houston and has averaged 4.0 pts a game....almost doubled what he gave the Spurs (2.2 pts/gm in 15 games) In the 3 games his +/- is: Jazz (0) win..............2 pts Knicks (-10) win........7 pts (blowout) Grizz (+8) win...........3 pts......he had two blocks, one high above the rim I believe. It’s why I say he still has hops. So basically DMC had the only negative game while scoring his most points. Two of the three games vs playoff bound teams. Let the guy work off some rust imo. He hadn’t played since Jan 8th with the Spurs. Is he really hurting the team while getting his seas legs back in shape? I’m a strong believer that Popovich wrecked his confidence with that Spurs system. Needs to get use to switching defense and know his role. But at the same time James Ennis taught me that not everyone can handle switching defense. So I would like to bring in Tolliver just in case DMC can’t get his mind right. At least I know DMC had basically the same role with the Nets offensively. Spot shooter from 3. Just needs to get that bombs away attitude without being worried Popovich is going to twist his neck. Eric Gordon had like 3 air balls against the Celtics. Got to put it behind him......like being unconscious about shooting....that’s what the Rockets need. Nets DMC.
What makes you believe that Tolliver is better switch defender than Demarre? Tolliver is better defending forwards/wings not so much guards.
Need to give plenty of minutes to DMC. Dude hasn't played much this year. He needs to have a great game so MDA starts incorporating DMC into the lineup. Clippers are looking very deep with their bench. We need ours to elevate their play as well.
Your input are so gorgeous! Just cant help highlighting this part of your thinking on MDA and his weaknesses. We ourselves are our biggest enemy that we should conquer first.
D’Antoni has patience with a star like Westbrook finding himself without talking to him, but I don’t know if he has as much patience with role players like House/Faried last playoffs. Jeff Green has been spot on (.785 TS% w/Houston) from the get go and so has Covington....Bruno covers a lot of flaws with long wing span. Hope he gets more playing time vs teams .500 or less. DMC as well.
@saleem Next ten games: @Knicks Clippers @ Hornets Magic T-Wolves @ Lakers @Blazers Cavs Kings Bulls Only about 2 teams that DMC probably shouldn’t play in, but I would like to see DMC vs Harrell. For future reference.
Daryl Morey was 100% on board trading for Robert Covington. He tried to trade for before the season started and during the season before the deadline. He is the top target for Morey and the Rockets.
Yeah I think I woke up this morning and saw bumped thread as written today. For some reason I read it as Tilman ordered Morey to go on with trade (Capela/Covington). I don’t want to push fake news.....but the truth is I don’t know the inner dealings of the front office and coaching. Who gets credit for pulling the strings to form this new structure of the Rockets. My image of D’Antoni is that he likes guards/point guards predominantly. I’ve heard him in interviews saying, what are we talking about? A couple of inches from 6’5” guard to 6’7” SF? Yes, but when they have to guard 7’0” PF/Centers that 6’5” Guard is 2 inches from 2 inches. The old two yards from two yards joke. Maybe D’Antoni has seen the error of his ways and pushed for SF’s while using Capela contract? IDK? People have told me Morey does not like SF’s since he brought in James Ennis and MCW’s last season. Dumping Ariza and Luc MaM. I don’t believe an analytics guy sees things that way. And Tilman is too cheap for anything......so I’ve been told, even though we had one of the highest payrolls earlier in the season. IDK? They all get the credit when we win, but no one wants to claim it if things fail. I guess I’m the only one that will stake my reputation that this style works in the regular season and playoffs. Mostly guards like last season was false gold. Our best chance was with Ariza and Luc MaM, but Ariza burned out by season’s end and Luc dislocated his shoulder right before the playoffs. That showed me that the Rockets were close. Last season was a huge step back imo.
Time to search who can play.like westbrooks and Gordon to perform quick run layup, sign the one who has speed, good defence and accuracy also able to shoot 3.
