Hakeem is averaging 30+pts a game, 15+ rebounds, 5-7 blocks per game. There is NO ONE that could guard him in today's game.
i disagree. when people say that dominant big men from the 90s would be even more dominant today, I just can't see it. in the 90s everyone just stood around while teams through the ball down to the post. with all great defensive schemes, length, and athleticism I just dont think many of them would be able to dominate.....and on defense it would definitely be a struggle trying to get out on the perimeter.
Hakeem wasn’t some big oaf 7 footer bro he is absolutely one of the past legends that would tear a ****ing hole in the league today. David Robinson, the guy Hakeem murdered, would be unstoppable too. Ewing and slower, plodding type centers might have some trouble.
HI, welcome. You never saw Hakeem switching out on the guards during the finals? Prowling like a cat and shutting them down out there. The man had extraordinary agility - it is what set him aside
You cannot assume this, even as a die-hard Rockets fan. Hakeem retired in 2002. Eighteen years ago - that is an entire baby only now getting to vote. That is a time period covering 3 presidents. This is pre-YouTube, pre-Facebook, pre-iPhone. This is from an era when Dallas did not suck. No, wait - forget that last part. There was never a time where Dallas did not suck. But you can't just assume that someone might legitimately wonder what a guy like Hakeem would look like compared to the only players that they have known. Who knows when this person became a fan. Makes me feel that much luckier that I was able to see Hakeem play. And the answer is yes, I think that he could hold his own against this era.
Comparing eras is always a mistake. Hakeem would have played a different style if he were playing in this era of basketball. I'm sure that he would have been unbelievable.
I'm going to put this down for the 99ers Hakeem could play in any ERA of the NBA from THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF THE HUMAN RACE
Hakeem would be the ultimate center in any era. As has already been stated, he could guard every position, was a PHENOMENAL team defender, and would transform any team into a contender. And if we want to talk about offense, there's not a single person that would be able to stop him nowadays. And if he played today I have no doubt that he would've developed a respectable 3 point shot as well. The Dream would have not only been able to play in this era, but he would dominate--just like he would have dominated in the 2000s, or 70s, or any era that was fortunate enough to have not played against him.
Didn't read a single anything but resounding yes. Fluid athlete that'd still be elite in today's game. Imagine him developing a 3 ball also. Would not of been a post threat only. Think Anthony Davis plus Draymond Green
