I realize that we need to save space for the resignings of Deshaun and Laremy next offseason (or prior) but is there anyone here that would be opposed to actually investing resources into a critical position that has underwhelmed, productivity wise. Our (MULTIPLE) draft picks and free agent signings (for the most part) over the past 3 seasons or so have not panned out as planned. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...r-henry-headline-impressive-free-agent-class/ Especially considering that your most productive TE to come along since the Owen Daniels days has hit the market as well.
Sweet. So on top of having a rookie DC, we now have an OC/QBs coach who has never called plays or coached QBs at any level in his career. But I’ll believe it when I see it. If true, what’s the over/under until BoB takes back over?
1.5 years? Give it 2 years, they'll fire (err "mutually agreed to part ways") Tim Kelly, Bob takes back over. Rinse & repeat. Nice try Tilman...I mean Bob.
If his history is any indication, Kelly will call plays the entire training camp and preseason, then BoB will take back over after week 1.
Lol didn’t even think about the switch back before week 1. I’d actually put my money on that than taking the over on 1/2 a season.
I told y'all he would give up the Playcalling duties. O'Brien has what he wants.......TOTAL control of the organization. However, he cannot do everything.
Seems hard to be over on 1.5 years. I'm going under. Also, Tim Kelly seems to have been along for the ride with BillyO from his Penn State days. We have absolutely no idea what kind of o-coordinator he'll be. At worst, he's effectively a BillyO protege so that's not good. At best, instead of the HC with tons of other stuff to do being in charge of the offense, maybe this guy has been in the background really figuring out what works and doesn't, is younger, more willing to be creative, etc. and it all clicks with DW. In any case, it's telling, of course, that BillyO is willing to relinquish FULL OC duties (I think Kelly was technically named OC last year, but still wasn't the main playcaller???), but only to someone he effectively still has a crap-ton of control over.
I'm torn for several reasons... 1. I'd like to know what the coaches think of Warring and if he can be a starter this year. 2. I have to think Fells would be relatively cheap to resign given his age and prior production. Signing him for a year to give Warring more time to learn the position may be best option. 3. I'd love Hunter Henry if he could stay healthy, I'm just not sure if he's worth the risk and what he'll demand on the open market compared to our other needs. I'm really not excited about the rest of the group. I do agree that an above average TE would be a great weapon for Watson, but a good slot WR would be very useful as well.
