The WISH logo on the Lakers jerseys is the worst. It's literally an entire website/app where people sell knock-offs and other sketchy stuff. Luckily, most people don't know what Rokit is, and it at least has the same colors as our jerseys. Doesn't bother me...
Less sketchy than the Lakers "Wish" selling counterfeit goods or Orlando playing in the Amway area? Amway the Pyramid scheme?
Tilman is mafia money washed clean. I imagine that this is just another manifestation of that. Money laundering.
Honestly, around the league I've been surprised how the sponsors are either shady companies I barely know (rakuten, rokit), or like, weirdly small potatoes (Loves? you mean the gas station sponsored you?). I would have thought it would have been a parade of the same people that put their names on stadiums. Like, we have the Toyota Center, let's double down and put Toyota on the uniforms. Or maybe even, we're really trying to push our other car brand, so lets put Scion on there. There are a couple that make sense like GE, but idk.
I dont know how many shady sponsors are in the NBA, but Rakuten is basically Japanese Amazon. I guess one can question how useful it is for them to advertise in the NBA but I dont think it's any different from Les taking money from all those Chinese companies during his ownership time.
don’t care about the sponsor...shady or not, those checks are still clearing, those wire transfers are still going through...if they’re not, a new sponsor will take their place
yeah i debated calling out rakuten because I do know what it is now (I guess the ads worked?) but it used to be ebates which always seemed shady tome and there is the cash back aspect of it that makes it seem weird and I refuse to learn more because I don't need another evil company in my life that I can't resist buying baubles for free two day delivery.
