You can debate it all you want .... but its not constitutional.

There's a reason its never been implemented in the entire history of our country.

The Feds are bound by article 1 section 9.

Taking what someone has earned or accumulated is simply not just and will never pass constitutional muster.

Reread article 1 section 9 out of respect for you.

I see nothing saying or implying it is not constitutional

Yeah , don't pay your taxes and see what happens buddy .... Don't be a stupid person.

The government might be able to cancel debt that they OWN but they don't own this debt , they simply underwrote it (guaranteed it).

The government in this case would have to make the lender whole (Pay them off) and to do that , they would use our tax dollars to the tune of $2.9 Trillion to do so.

And really , when you get right down to it , that's simply illegal seizure which is protected by the 4th amendment.

Another issue - this is targeting specific people / group of people and only those will be affected - so much for fairness and equality in law / taxation.

This crap never gets past the SCOTUS and I doubt a lower court would support it either.

You guys are really pissed off at the wrong crowd - you need to direct all this vitriol towards those corporations who only contributed 7% of the total tax burden last year.

And furthermore - Just taxing these people doesn't generate the required funds. As I stated before , to cover the spending Sanders is talking about , you have to tax the entire GDP at 71% to hit the break even point.

So all this discussion of a wealth tax is just silly , another pie in the sky plan by the wingnuts.

Why not car or home loan forgiveness? those impact the poor far more than college grads

Improve public transportation. Government does have a responsibility in providing citizens a means for transportation for commerce and work.

Public housing exists. It's up to the citizen to earn their way to being able to afford home ownership.

Education is a tool even our founders believed that helps in that process to "earn" their way to get a home. So making people pay for education seems like a self defeating purpose when the goal is to improve the union. I suggest looking into Thomas Jefferson's view on education.

What about debt forgiveness on the 30 cassettes for $1 I signed up for? That thing is still dogging me.
