I mean the Huawei indictments in Washington State says its employees are incentivized to steal technology.

If that’s true, is that coming from Huawei or the Chinese government? Is there a difference?

All China does is steal from, undercut and poison Americans

All with the help of Americans though.

While I don't trust the trump regime at all, I trust the Chinese government as far as I can spit. They have stolen untold tens of billions of dollars worth of technology by stealing it from the US and our allies and used that tech not only for consumer goods, like cell phones, but more importantly, for their military. I would be very afraid of a 5G network set up by Huawei having a "back door" that would allow China to access it and disrupt communications when it suits their purpose. The PRC has the US, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and our other allies in the region on a target list, busy building up their military at an astonishing rate so they can do what they like in the Western Pacific.

They built artificial islands in the South China Sea (which we should have prevented and didn't - one of Obama's f***ups), promised Obama that they wouldn't militarize them, and when they were completed, promptly installed anti-ship missiles, anti-air missiles, and huge runways (with fortified hangers) not only capable of handling fighters, but heavy nuclear capable bombers, as well. The PRC does NOT give a damn about our interests or those of our allies. Under Xi, who has become the most powerful Chinese leader since Mao, the intent of China had become extending hegemony over the Western Pacific at the expense of Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and other states in the region.

I am fine with suing the hell out of Huawei and every other Chinese business using stolen Western technology, and I don't trust them at all. They do what they are told to do by the Chinese government. This is hardly "news." It's been going on for many years.

Agreed. Do you also agree with Trump's tariffs on China? In general, given their CO2 output, all developed nations need to be less reliant on their manufacturing sector. If it means less unnecessary goods, even better.

No, I don't like the tariffs at all. I think the impact on our own economy is a net negative, and the bizarre (in my opinion) way trump has gone about it has damaged our standing with our trading partners. Both economies are slowing down, our own and that of the Chinese. For what purpose? The wholesale theft has already occurred.

What is paramount now is to prevent more of the same. We know they have done it. They sure as hell know that they have done it, and continue to do it today, wherever we leave holes in cyber security. Not just China, but Russia, as well. They deny it, of course, but then they deny every bad thing they do, within and outside of their countries. If we, government and private sector, had taken cyber security more seriously in the past and spent whatever it took to prevent theft of both commercial and military intellectual property that took years and tens of billions to produce, we would be stronger today, and our adversaries would be weaker. Personally, I would view that as a good thing.

You can't trust the Chinese, and you can't trust the Trump admin. Who the heck knows. This is the problem with Trump's lies - even when he tells the truth you don't know if he is lying or not
