Carlos Correa is freakin' stepping up, man. I can't even express how pumped I am that he's saying all of this. 72 hours ago we all kind of loved to hate on Correa. You can be sure he's not going to be the guy we love to hate anymore. Already a supremely talented player and now he's stepping up to the national media and other players running their mouth? Dude's about to be a new fan favorite.
It’s not shocking but I’m curious how in the world someone could say sign stealing is worse than steroids? Steroid users received an increase in production that just completely dwarfs anything you get from sign stealing. What about doctoring the ball?
There’s no point of arguing with the internet about the José Altuve thing. None of it makes sense particularly having to tell his teammates not to rip his jersey off because he has a buzzer on. This is beyond stupid. Again. I hope he wears a buzzer because **** these guys.
I hate the comparison because cheating is cheating. But if people want to compare... there are reports saying that the Astros sign stealing was the worst kept secret in baseball. If that’s true, then teams can prepare and use multiple signs. Like Correa said, in the World Series the Dodgers signs couldn’t be deciphered and constantly changed. Effectiveness of sign stealing can be mitigated. Effectiveness of steroids is always there and totally out of the other teams’ control.
Interesting that Bryant goes after the Astros. He’s a good friend of Beltran’s and I wonder if there’s some bad blood there due to Beltran taking a lot of the heat.
I hope Carlos inspires the rest of his teammates to embrace it too. He's the only one who's shown balls during this entire ordeal.
I'm kind of surprised. Carlos hasn't had that big payday yet. Pretty much all of the other main players that were involved in this have their big paydays (Altuve, Bregman, Gurriel, Reddick, Marwin, etc). Correa could be limiting his market by pouring gasoline on this dumpster fire, but it is great entertainment and the Astros are now the hottest ticket in MLB.
