I was really impressed watching Bolden's stats and highlights that were posted here, which made me curious what sixer fans thoughts of him. From my cursory review of sixer fan sites, the report on Bolden last year and at the time of his release; is that Bolden has several intriguing/tantalizing abilities but is a looong ways away from being ready to play meaningful minutes. The three most often pointed out flaws/limitation in his game is: - inability to defend without fouling https://thesixersense.com/2019/10/14/philadelphia-76ers-jonah-bolden-still-fouling-problem/ - lack of ability/footwork/fundamentals to defend despite his length, height and athleticsim. - inconsistency of shot/play and a poor rebounder. Most of these issues can be attributed to Bolden being such a young and inexperienced player. They are by no means irreversible and may even be corrected/eliminated with simply more playing time/experience. However these issues do explain why the Sixers would cut him and how Bolden should be viewed as a long term project rather than as a rotational contributor to any playoff team that picks him up.
Don't need far"weed" repeat. Nene got traded with capeala so obviously the team moving in different directions!
Already mentioned that he commits too many fouls earlier in thread. If not for this, he would still be a Sixer. Sixers fans and media also LOVED him last season. Called him a steal, next superstar, should be starter or primary backup, etc. He is young and inexperienced but you cannot teach height and his athletic ability and skillset is excellent for 6'10 legit 3-D player. Bolden would be amazing fit for the Rockets. And as much as I would love this acquisition I have never advocated that he be brought in as a starter. Bolden is more talented than House IMO. And the better fit.
I have zero personal knowledge or informed opinions of his game, aside from what was gathered in this thread. Having not watched or even heard of him before this thread, I cant really have an educated opinion on his fit with the Rockets. But from the limited research of sixer fan's opinion on Bolden. The main impressions were - intriguing attributes, but raw/long term project. Second - was that he was a huge basketball media/afficianado favorite after the 2017 draft.
C'mon Morey, we need the Killer B's!!!! Back end of roster needs to be purged to add more 6'8+ switchable defenders that can rim protect (7'0+ wingspan), disrupt on D, run/defend transition, gang rebound and shoot 3ball. A couple more guys who can create for themselves and others, play above rim and being energy would be helpful too. Killer B's Lineup: Brodie, Tyler B. Johnson, Rivers Beard, EGo, Ben BobCov, Broekhoff, House Bo Harkless, PJ, Bolden Bomari Spellman, Bruno, Bender *Option to swap 7'0 Dragan Bender (7'2 WS) for double B 6'8 Bismack Biyombo (7'7 WS).
Highlighting another Killer B - 6'7 Ryan Broekhoff https://pickandroll.com.au/nba-ryan-broekhoff-joe-ingles-footsteps/ Compared to Jazz Joe Ingles. Except Broekhoff is better 3ball shooter, defender and rebounder. Shot over 40% from 3 with Mavs before he was released for MKG. Ingles is much better ball handler and passer however.
https://thedallasprospect.com/deep-dive-a-statistical-analysis-of-ryan-broekhoff/ Wow, kid broke his leg in December and already good to return now after about 45 days. https://thesmokingcuban.com/2020/01/27/dallas-mavericks-2020-ryan-broekhoff-injury-rotation/ Elite 3ball shooter (42% with Mavs this season).
Dragan Bender https://behindthebuckpass.com/2020/01/22/milwaukee-bucks-dragan-benders-patience-starting-pay-off/ https://www.eurohoops.net/en/nba-news/999477/dragan-bender-earns-g-league-player-of-the-week-award/
There was a time 76ers considered Jonah Bolden to be better than Richaun Holmes. Richaun Holmes struggled on defense in Philly for 2+ seasons, finally let him go because they considered him a bust. Holmes broke out this season with Sacramento.
Bender won them that game against the highlights. Well he made crucial shots. Something we need 40% from 3. Long but only thing is he isn’t that athletic. He would be nice to have so we could have some sort of size inside against some teams like the bucks.
Bender more playable than either Tyson or Harty because he has better fluidity and lateral agility. He moves like a guard for a 7 footer. Just lacks the crazy hops or freak wingspan. 7'0 with 7'2 wingspan, similar to Harty just more coordinated. And yes, much better 3ball shooter and switch defender.
Interesting find. Repeatable release, with high arch--we need more consistency from our shooters and his quick fluid motion would be an interesting add to this offense.
Bender and Anderson look good then. If we are not going to play Hartenstein, Chandler or Clemons we should get those two and Ryan B and waive Howard or Frazier if we need.
As an Aussie I can assure you they are very different players. Broekhoff is much more a simple 3nD guy. Great shooter, automatic from the corner. Not a great creator for himself or others. Very solid defender. Plays more like a 6'4 guy than a 6'7 guy. Ingles has far more all around talent, worse defender, better size and much more creativity. Browkhoff can contribute - but think a less athletic BMac
Nice! Appreciate the input. Less athletic but longer BMac (longer than House too) with a better 3ball. I agree. And good to know that Broekhoff is solid defender. Probably what can be said about BMac.
