Think of him as Trevor, their stats won’t knock your socks off, but can do a lot of things that don’t show up on stats.
Dude killed against us and is now the third best 3 point shooter on the team. I can't wait to see RoCo, Thabo and PJ playing defense on the court at the same time!
Wtf are you talking about? I didn’t posted it in order because the formatting was being funky so I said good enough that’s 3 fkn years where Covington is literally THE number 1 perimeter defender Not one of, THE NUMBER 1 perimeter defender ...3 straight years
I haven't watched this guy much since he left the Rockets the first time. Just from reading around seems like his offense is is streaky, whereas I use to think he was a big time 3pt flame thrower. However his perimeter defense is highly touted. I will adjust my expectations for a solid shooter who can be counted on defensively, but definitely not a savior who will vault us into title favorites.
I think he's very similar but slightly better than Trevor. He is a slighty better rebounder. He's a similar shooter with a career average .8% better. He's been recognized as a defender by being named to all defense first team. He was touted as a future DPOY type even though I didn't quite buy into the hype. He's pretty good at getting to the FT line, which will be welcomed as he will be expected to catch and drive like Ariza did. He's never played on a team that was this good. His last year in the Philly, they were on the cusp of being really good but Simmons and Embiid were trying to figure each other out. Covington was a glue guy in that situation like Ariza was. The 76ers had to include him in the Butler deal because they were desperate to take the next level and just didn't see it happening with Saric and Covington over Butler. Covington was then thrust into the Wolves situation that had been a complete disaster the whole season. Following his arrival, the team instantly went on a heat streak He's also the same age as Trevor when we first traded to reacquire him. https://www.canishoopus.com/2019/11/22/20973766/robert-covington-personifies-the-new-wolves-order This is a great article about what he brings.
Why are the expectations so high again? If it were my team I'd have waved Clint Capela in the offseason (good thing it's not my team) lol. Couldn't stand seeing his ugly mug anymore.
Really excited to have Robert Covington, as well as the details of the new story for The Athletic that was just posted online.
It's fun reading the responses on this thread, leading up to the game. Someone would rather have old Ariza lol Link? Googling "Covington" and "athletic" is too broad!
